Roman numbers and latin half and half - is that what makes a california dial ?
Don't usually like californian dials but that works well on the 20 :)
If only we could have it with seconds at nine..!..
This will be outstanding! Just a quick question - why Precista on this when all other 20's are sterile?
Too many good ones on the way!
Ooh. Been looking for something in a Cali dial. When? Where? How much?
What lug style are you thinking of?
When - when it's ready (not having a go - it's Eddie's Style) but since it's probably a dial change soonish hopefully
Where - www.timefactors.com
How much - very reasonable - say <£400 ish at a guess unless it 'Special'
Lugs - a guess but likely the wire lugs as per other PRS20s - no need to redesign a classic :-)
Not sure about the position of the 'Great Britain' text, it looks like the is a word between that has been redacted by the marker at 6.
Does Eddie ever do display backs? I do like seeing the beating heart.
Well although this is obviously not an out and out clone, the solid caseback is more in keeping with the original cali dialled 3646. You'd be surprised at how svelte a 45mm radiomir feels given its size. I wear a 2533 dial rad alike on my 6.5" wrist and it doesn't look mental big. I think it has to do with the fact that the case is effectively lugless, so doesn't have the extra bulk of those appendages. It has about the same wrist presence as a submariner with 48mm lug to lug dimensions.
This looks like something i'll be interested in come March, it's either this or the new dreadnought, will be good to see the final design when it's ready and what strap combo it'll come with.
Thanks. Looks very nicely proportioned.
Very nice, I like it.
Would prefer a vertical baton at six though .....
I'm with Dapper & others here, much better with the vertical baton, although i can appreciate the authenticity. Gold hands work for me as does the white chapter ring, as mentioned above i would agree that applying "Precista" in gold lettering would really set off the dial. The icing on the cake would be a domed plexi which would make this truly irresistible.
Has anyone mentioned a tobacco dial?

Eddie, are you thinking sandwich, or painted dial?
Just an idea of a sandwich, plexi combo (which has now left my ownership)
You can't tell from the picture but it will have a sandwich dial.

Rolex-Panerai 3646 (I think the picture might be Mike Woods').

Must say, a vertical six does sit better in my head!
Nice one, Eddie, a Cali dial PRS-20 should be a lovely thing. Sandwich dial is just the icing on the cake.

Agreed, that looks very nice.
Thattallchap - have you got any more pics in another thread ?

I like the Great Britain. Every fifth second tick being thicker perhaps, though.
As a 112 owner I love sandwich dials, great 3D feel, gives real interest.
Sterile dial or not is the elephant!
Excellent. That's the one I have been waiting for.
Such a tease!
Very nice, Cali dials are a nice quirk, just could not justify a Panerai for the occasional wear. One slight thing though and I think we've talked about it in the past - the 8, still not a fan of this style, but remember you saying that there was no other way to achieve an 8 and sandwich any other way. I'm guessing still the same 'issue'?
If I'd known this was coming, I needn't have made this.
Maybe I can have both.
I dislike these dials... perhaps I just don't get them. I always feel they are confused - almost schizophrenic :-)
I'd resisted a PRS-20 thus far - it's on the "to do" list - but as someone who accumulates rather than flipping it's taking a while to get there...
A Californian dial, however? That's a different matter. I'll be amongst the first in line for this one.
I have always been convinced the 20 is too big for me, but have an irrational desire for a Cali dial so am very likely to buy this when it comes out!
I have one of these (not a Cali) which I thought could be too big for my 6.5 inch wrist, but they wear smaller than the 45mm might suggest. It looks like a big watch on my small wrist, but not ridiculously so, even without a cuff to hide behind it works ok. And I don't go in for big watches as a rule.
I don't know how it works but Prs 20,an absolutely beautiful watch ,does 'wear smaller'.I will be very keen to see what this looks like, quite a fan of Cali dials. Here's my Prs20
Apologies for gratuitous Prs20 shot with no relevance to post!!

Is the lume layer available in an amber hue (as opposed to green)? A creamy, aged look would really fit this design.
I like the idea, but I would see the dial sterlie and with temperature blued hands. More homage to 3646 californias. Gold hands remind me too much current OP replicas.
The top of an old sandwich dial with aged lume applied to a cardboard disc underneath (not the best). The colour of the aged lume is accurate on my monitor.
This is not just any aged lume, this is a special development for this watch by a forum member who does stuff like this for a living. I have to say it's the best I've seen.

Lovely patina look, looking forward for this one. I haven't seen a sandwich cali dial until this one.
