I'd throw down for one. I've been itching for a TF chrono and hankering for a Speedmaster Pro for a while, this would certainly fill a hole.

Yes, despite being non-date I'd love for this to happen.

This looks interesting, if anything it made a good read - sad to see it put on the back-burner

I'd love one of these if it was ever made!
Did you ever manage to source the movements??

Was thinking the same when I got the email from them. As usual though with watches these days, it's too big.

Inspiration fine. Still prefer Eddie's take on inspiration.

Of course the inspiration came from somewhere else... It was a tongue in cheek comment.

Sorry for digging that specific quote up from the depths of the interwebs...

I've been following that specific thread for a while now, hoping that one day that chrono will see the light of day. I never really intended to contribute, but I've been doing some reading on chronos recently and I stumbled on something that might lead to a solution.

How about the Seiko NE88? I'm told it's about the same size as a Valjoux 7750, about the same price and perhaps slightly superior even. Now, I have absolutely no clue whatsoever if that would work, if the registers are in the right place, if the cost is ok, if it would fit... No idea about the price, nor how to get any ... What I do know is that Seiko is encouraging third party watchmakers to use them.

I guess it would mean the watch wouldn't be "swiss made" anymore, but maybe its looks and build can offset that? Personally, if it can work, I could live with it having a quality Seiko movement. I'm confident a lot of people would as well, and some others probably wouldn't, but putting one in it is your decision to make.

Again, I apologise for my potential ignorance: I might be ignoring a significant flaw or issue with this, I don't know. I know a few things about watches, but they're mostly on the other side of production. It's a suggestion, it might be worth looking into...

I'm not remotely competent enough to comment on choice of movement, but we've seen Time Factors watches with lots of movements including Japanese.

In that rendering, possibly the main reason for the "swiss made" on the dial was as a homage to where a certain famous model bore the name of a US race track. Wouldn't it be fitting for have a British racetrack name on a Smiths? There are so many evocative names in British motorsport. So long as it's not Ollie's Mount ;)

    What’s the status?

    Hi,

Just wonder If you still are planing to release this watch? If so what is status? Still searching for a movement?

I think this is a stunner!!!

After the departure of my PRS-82 I am left time-factor-less.
No one has offered me their 1903 speedbird so this one would definitely be a dream come true.
Gevril made one called TriBeCa a few years back using the 2894 and it turned out to be very nice.
I guess that the NE88 would be a good alternative although the 1873 sounds like a dream.
I wish we got an update even to learn of it is still in the plans or not...

I believe "Pendine" (as in Sands - vs Daytona Beach - both home of early speed record attempts) was suggested at one point.

I was quoted €950 per movement for the Lemania 1873 (Omega 861) so I doubt it will happen with this movement. If it's going to happen, it will be with the Valjoux 7753.

The Seiko NE-88 is a superior movement to the Valjoux, it's a true column-wheel chrono with vertical clutch. It would certainly make it more affordable.

It will be a winner Eddie,

Especially when considering what the gevril TriBeCas are now going for.

Yours will be a better combo with superior movement and more contemporary size!

The NE-88 would probably be the better choice when compared to the 7753...

Looks a cracking bit of kit, nice one Eddie, I'm definitely in if I'm not too late, would be good to join my other TF watches and it would look great on one of my RE Natos like the rest of my watches
