An early Daytona would definitely be on the ultimate wish list but an Autavia 1163 or 1563 would be a more realistic target

The Rolex has come up on SC recently but I couldn't release funds in time to commit

Good idea for a beater! Or perhaps a perpetual calendar?

I can't remember if I replied to this. Everyone always says "wouldn't life be boring if we all liked the same thing" but what they often forget to add is "...but get a Sub a Speedy Pro and a G-Shock anyway". Ask this on a. n. other forum and that's the most common answer you get but it's all a bit

Personally, a mint old Chronospace, something all 70s, angular and Genta-ish, and based on a walk past a shop window the other day, a Zenith Espada. Although I do hanker for an older Explorer II.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

For me it would have to be a Zenith Captain Winsor in stainless steel, a Rolex Submariner of the 116613 variety and something classic and dressy. Maybe a gold 1960s Longines Conquest on a brown leather strap.

Edit: scratch the Longines. Make it a Smiths Imperial.

Oh my. They're a little bit big and ungainly, and I dislike the "El Primero" on the dial, which sounds like the name of a bar in Fuerteventura. AND it's great way to burn about £2,500 instantly. AND it gets rid of the bit that made the El Primero movement stand out in the first place. Still want one though!

Ah - my hankering is for the original (well, that or an A386). The new version is nice, though!

    Three make this tough...
    Hulk, which I have...
    Exp I, which I have...
Then it's a toss up between a Fifty Fathoms or a Polar Exp II...
.....and there I'm stuck because I'd like both...but I'd likely go with the Fifty first because that bezel is just so awesome.

Mmmm - Felt sure I'd replied to this, perhaps search doesn't find usernames...

Anyway, no harm putting in my current 'realistic wish-list'.

As I have a Speedy and, personally, would rather ritually disembowel myself with a blunt spoon than wear a G-Shock, I'll say :

    Sinn Arktis
Dreadnought GMT (This is a bit of a gamble, as I've never seen a real DN, but I'm going to try and get one, price permitting)
TAG-Heuer Monaco (or maybe a Monza...)

I have a hankering for a Breitling Aerospace or similar too, but find the idea of spending all that money on a quartz watch a bit hard to reconcile, so for now my Ciizen Skyhawk will have to fill the Titanium ana-digi slot in my collection, which it does fine. Maybe a Tissot T-Touch of some sort?

I wonder if any of these figured on my original list?

The Fifty Fathoms (but oddly, only really a modern one) figures high on my 'dream list', but I can't see me ever spending that much, unless my numbers come up!

    For today at least:

Rolex 114060 ND Ceramic Submariner (arriving soon)
    Omega Aqua Terra 8500 coaxial
    Rolex Datejust 116300

Must be new or nearly new.

One down - two to go - hope I live long enough to realise that dream.

(Edit: I could have included the JLC Master Calendar or even the PC 8 Days, but I did say three!)
    Well...

I now have an Ed White as opposed to an SM300, and prefer that option by far
I can't afford a PN Daytona and likely never will, but do now have a Zenith Daytona to fill that gap
I'm happy with my Autavia GMT instead of the Siffert although that one may come to fruition in the future

As for the PC, I've had a JLC and now have a GO, so that box is ticked as well. Not bad progress in a year, and still fairly true to what I said I wanted back then

So this is what I've decided on, and what I'm almost at!

    1) PRS-25. A great all-rounder (good for work and play!). I love a watch on a bracelet, but I want to have fun with the Everest on a different straps so...
    2) PRS-22. I'm waiting for the new batch to arrive then I'm taking the plunge. Again, I think it'll be a great all-rounder, and it'll stay on the bracelet
    3) Seiko SKX007. For situations when I don't want to risk either of the above. I've got it on a TF Bond nato, and will also use the rubber strap it came with sometimes.

  16. #216
    Omega Speedy Pro 3570.50
    Omega Seamaster 2254.50
IWC Portuguese Chrono (white dial/blue numbers & hands)

Hopefully will be getting the top one soon, will be my first big (for me anyway) watch purchase

    1. I'd quite like one of the first three-dial Autavias, or at the very least the 2446 with bracelet that Jochen Rindt wore. Not sure if I can afford the former, and short of a main chrono hand, some restoration and bracelet end pieces I already have most of the second.

    2. Great White Sea Dweller.

I am being realistic with mine in terms of budget and useability:

1: 16600 Sea Dweller (original Trit dial) - Already have.
2: 16750 Matt Dial GMT Master (Birth Year)- On its way.
3: IWC Poruguese - Planned 40th present to myself (Ive got 10 years!)

I know that they arent the most exciting/rare/desireable watches, however for me they are!

I don't think my tastes have changed so much - so today I'd go for:

Actually, there is no point - I'd never get down to three watches ;)
It's just a matter of time...

    1. Birth year - 1968 Rolex 1675 pepsi. Only Rolex I have ever thought I might want, so I might buy one for my 50th. Seems quite fitting :)
    2. PC - Moser perpetual 1. Platinum or WG version. You didn't define realistic, so it's within the realms of possible, so I'm including it!
    3. Diver - Blancpain FF blue dial. WG LE if I win the lottery ;)

1 and 3 are more realistic than 2, but if ever I get to try on 2 and it looks as good in the flesh, well, then I might have to sell the wife.

Any of them would be a bit of a stretch at the moment as I'm a tad brassic. First 2 a bit predictable given my mono label vintage collecting proclivities, last one just because I want a big loud Seiko but don't want to pay full (UK) price from Yorkshire Watches.

    - All original Omega 176.007 blue dial, blue or white tachy ring
    - Omega T17 movement with steel case in decent nick and original or at least nicely restored art deco baton marker dial
    - Seiko Superior Orange Monster, steel bezel and bracelet

    Cheers

    Ian

I know, and I had originally answered - but even as aspirational watches, I can't get down to three
It's just a matter of time...

    1 explorer, correct 36mm size 1016, 14270 or 114270

2 steel 3 hand reverso, not sure about the different models but not one of the big ones, it would be too big

3 either a moonwatch, previous gen white dial 16570 40mm explorer 2 or something like a vintage vc dress watch, not sure about number 3, if i had 1 and 2 i'd be pretty happy

BP FF 2012 model - ended up with BP Dark Knight
HW Midnight Big Date - despite being offered a substantial discount from AD..i'm sceptical about the legibility of this piece. It's now been replaced with RM10 RG
Omega - replaced with IWC Pilot Spitfire Chrono (IW387802)

I`m fortunate to own all the watches I want, with a collection of 20.

    The only 2 I`d buy if I got chance are a 60s Omega DeVille in 9ct gold and a 36.2mm mid-size Railamster.

Quite humble aspirations compared to some.

    1. Nomos Tangente Datum Gangreserve
    2. europa's Heuer Hulk from here: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...-one-of-a-kind although more likely to be a Rolex Hulk!
    3. Tudor Black Bay/Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue

Nomos will likely come next although might take a detour via an Oris Aquis for some variation as I currently only have a Seiko SARB023.
Then the Black Bay probably depending on which I like most by the time I get to that point.
All the while keeping my eyes peeled for europa's Heuer on SC

    breitling pult, blue dial,
    NOS seiko 6139 orange dial

    all massively cool.

    Vulcain Cricket GMT
Vintage Zenith El Primero Big Blue
    Rolex Explorer I (36 mm)

    Unrealistic: Patek Philippe Nautilus

    Your realistic wish-list - 3 watches only

I actually own two of mine:

Rolex 14060M (1680 Red Sub is well out of my reach)

    Speedy Pro

and this is one I'd love if only I had bigger wrists:

Panerai 372. So until they do a 44mm version I'll 'put up' with my 112 :-)

Ok trying to stay with the rules of the original post (3 watches aspired to likely/like to own one day + don't own now):

    1) Some variant of lange & sohne. (I am deliberately _not_ letting myself get too familiar with the models for now...this would be a case of 2nd hand and/or selling most of my other watches)
    2) a PAM. Radiomir (45mm or 47mm) or a 47mm Luminor. Again not decided which model yet as I want to put off the hunt until I'm properly ready
    3) Hmmm maybe a Seiko? (tuna or MM300, MM600)

You know what, that might be it for now. I lack a 'dress watch'. But rarely 'need' one and when I do need something to wear under a shirt cuff it's usually the '72 1680 red.

There are many watches I see which I like and drool over. But I think the (poorly defined) list above reflects what is mostly likely to happen.

my first post in here was when i was pretty new to it all. my collection has swelled a bit now & assuming i keep all the ones i have now i'd be quite happy to just add an omega moonwatch

i've got 2 g shocks, a black monster, a smiths everest, a pulsar quartz, a mondaine swiss railway watch, a vostok amphibia & an oris

think i've got most bases covered to a decent extent, the oris covers any dressy needs i have & when i get a brown leather strap for my everest that can fill in too. so yeah, very modest compared to some of you & of course if i came in to some money i'd be tempted to look at a sub or something. but as it stands right now when i get a moonwatch i'd be pretty damn satisfied with my collection & happy to just admire other models from afar

of course this could all change, such is the nature of the beast. i mean i would like a navitimer one day

2 of them would be watches I've loved and had to give up!

    A realistic 3 would be:

    - DSSD
    - Hublot King Power Unico (All black or RG)
    - Something dressy - possibly a GO
