    Lightbulb FIRE HOSE ZULU

Hi, I am a firefighter and ive been trying to re-engineer our fire hose so that it would be the right thickness and flexability for strap making, (to sell for our benevolent fund). The hose we use is a layered polyamide fabric coated in synthetic rubber-it is regularly dragged full of water, over rubble and broken glass into fires, and i have never seen it fail-it is as tough as hell.

    EURIKA! I finally done it.

I have been dipping in and out of this forum over the years to help my addiction to watches and all things asscociated with them and would value your feedback on the attached photos. This is just a prototype made with a buckle i had lying around. I think id like to use a V buckle if i go ahead with the project. Also we use a brownish red hose for water rescue that would also look good.

    Many thanks.

Hmmm I can't say that I like that very much. Don't you have any other colours like the red/orange Angus duraline one.

Yes it is pretty comfy. It sesms to get more flexable the more you wear it-a bit like new stiff leather.

Yes. My intention is to make a red one next and ive also seen a navy blue hose on my travels. Would love to source some of that. Still at a very early developement stage - your input is well appreciated.

I've seen something very similar using the material used for racing yacht sails.

    Here's one on Ebay.

    Volvo Ocean Racer

Of course, this is a velcro, rather than zulu style strap.

    Not for me thanks

Sorry - but you did ask
It looks like plastic to me.
If it was more breathable like nylon, sail-cloth, or fabric, then it might have been more appealing to the eye.
My fat chubby wrist is going to sweat like crazy underneath one of those.

That's my narrow minded view anyway.
Everyone else has given the thumbs up, so I'm obviously in the minority (and probably wrong)

Go for it - and good luck.

In the trade myself (Fire Service).

A 'no' from me - would be incredibly sweaty and irritating for me, others maybe not so.

Colours we have currently, red, yellow, dark blue, dark green and black.

    Good luck but I'm out.
