    OMG! HOROLOGY!

    Hi All!

I'm new here and new to horology!
A little about me, my father and brother have both always owned Omegas which I have always admired,
but I've never really thought about spending that much money on a watch before.

However this weekend just gone, I've just purchased this........

It was a complete impluse buy and I have definitely paid a bit over the odds for it from an Omega Boutique, however, since buying it, I can't stop looking at it.
    I think it's absolutley beautiful!
I love the ceramic bezel, and the black clean dial.

Moreover, I'm slightly worried as I'm now considering another purchase (maybe used this time) an IWC portofino or portuguese?!

    HELP!

    I think I maybe addicted!

    Smile Welcome

Hi mate and welcome abroad! I'm afraid the only help you'll get here is more ways to empty your wallet! :D
That really is a cracker for a first buy you have there - if they still came with the sword hands i'd be all over it.
    Hope to see you around.
    Si.

Welcome. You won't get a lot of help here. We are all addicted and we like to encourage the addiction in others.

Thanks guys! I think this may well turn into a very expensive hobby/habit?!

My everyday watch was a birthday present from years ago, a Raymond Weil Parsifal - I'll still keep this for certain occasions, and I still like the simple looks of this watch also.

    As below:

I think, though, I'm going to have to add to the collection fairly soon!

That was quick! I'm just getting slowly started. Don't think I could ever afford one of those gems.

Welcome and I think that's a really good first buy. Congrats and may it not be too long until the second.

I'm sorry to say you are showing all the symptoms of the early stages of the affliction. It is only likely to get worse. Back away quickly and never look at another watch. Either that or just sell absolutely everything you own in order to buy a Patek Philippe, it will save you a lot of time and trouble in the long run

Not that quick, unfortunately! Im in my 40's!?! (God knows where the years went! )

TBH it really was a spur of the minute, impulse buy. I'm not usually one to do something like that, but once I saw that Omega and tried it on, well I just HAD to have it!
I didn't even bother checking the internet for prices etc. Got a fairly dismal 8% of rrp and offered interest free if I wanted it. I opted however to pay for it all in one go.

I realise now I could have saved quite a bit had I shopped around, but It's just so lovely I'm still glad I bought it, and at least I know its not a fake and is covered by warranty etc.

Whatever I buy next though may be after a while, will need to save up for a bit, and I may buy used for the next one?! I understand there are some reliable websites for used quality watches etc.
    So will wait and see.

Obviously will update you guys as and when!

    Wow !! What a start.

Welcome to the forum but just to let you know what might happen. You will get bored of it especially if your after a IWC. I bought the Omega ceramic loved it but wanted the Rolex LV with green bezel, got one through SC and then I have a IWC Aquatimer incoming from SASH on SC. WHY ? because I want both

The moral of the story......You will be addicted here.Ring you bank manager tomorrow and ask for a huge overdraft

    regards Tony

Just wait until the first time you come face to face with a yellow B&M Capeland XXL.

For many people who are just getting into watches it seems to be the tipping point at which you realise that you have actually lost all sense of reason and that you and the contents of your wallet will never be permanently acquainted.

Welcome from across the pond. Certainly is a very good start down the slippery slope of WISdom I too started with a Seamaster and wearing it even as I type this now, and have had numerous Omegas over the years. I foolishly sold them over the years, but have started to get them back into my collection - now have 2 modern Omegas and one vintage one.

Welcome and enjoy your stay, but like others have told you already, abandon hope all ye enter here

Welcome! You know what would really complement this watch? A blue dailed Aqua Terra 8500 for those less sporty occasions
