Best diver for up to £300?

Lets have your suggestions please for a good solid diver, preferably not too big for up to £300 max?
    Auto or Quartz.
Pics would help or links etc?

    Cheers

The quality in the 40mm Nettuno 3 is hard to beat, a mint used version should be under budget.

Gotta be CWC RN diver (used price)

Or for value for money, you cant beat the seiko BFK, a lot of money for not a lot of cash. In fact theres one on SC now. Regards.Kev

Another photo. These are very good quality, fit and finish are way about the price point.

I'd say the SKX007/009 for about £100 plus a William Jean super oyster for about £50 is impossible to beat for less than £300.

Seiko Sumo is a cracker for the money.

  12. #12
This segment is Seiko's stronghold, and with good reason. Granted, it's not the most creative choice, but you really can't beat them at that price.

Think this is the same case as my davosa ternos?

The ternos also comes in blue, sometimes i wish i'd gone for the blue one

If the marcello is the same as my davosa, then i certainly vouch for the quality at the price point, but you'll struggle to get either new in your budget

Ebay.de seems a good source for these type of watches, but you should defo check out our hosts range of divers, you cant seem to beat the spec for the price

You really have to find the 13% for a prs 3!

I Agree, you cant beat them for value for money.
It would have to be the sumo for me

CWC gets my vote. The SBS version is £349 at Silvermans

Some really nice watches posted but for me the choice would have to be between a PRS-3 or a Seiko. This is, as someone pointed out, a pricepoint where Seiko really is king.

How about an Orange Monster and £150 stays in the bank?

Agree with the Captain, the Nettuno is a great watch and price even new but if you can get a good deal on s/h you will not regret it.

a few here to mull over,
seiko can both be picked up for £100 -£120 ish

steinhart, below are the ocean black and the ocean vintage military which is my personal fave and also looks the biz on leather.

boschett reef ranger, again on leather here but also looks good on bracelet, sorry about the crap pic.

maybe a little overbudget but here's one i owned twice, but due to my own stupidity (long story) i fell out of love with it, i want it back again now though - the Irreantum Magellan

i haven't any pics but i'd also recommend eddies prs-3, especially the le versions.

    My list would be:

    PRS18Q
    SKX009/7

  23. #23
    For me:

    Sumo
Steinhart Vintage Red with acrylic crystal (if you like an homage)
SBCM023 (if you like quartz, smaller watches - and if you can find one of course.)

No its not. Although it is virtually identical to a 007....

Although the best Diver has to be a Suunto D4i for that price. If you want to dive with the thing that is...

Can I ask, how did it wear? Is it a heavy watch and does it fit comfortably on the wrist? I am very keen on these but don't want another overly heavy or bulky watch with crown rub.

    Cheers

    Diver

Faced the same dilema myself. In the end I have pulled the trigger on a Steinhart Ocean Red. Now waiting for the arrival. After loads of research I narrowed mt selection down to a number of options, one you might want to consider is the UHR 431.

True, but you wont find a sumo for 300, possibly not even secondhand.... I think they're about 370 new plus the risk of import duty or 430ish from a euro seller

Probably i should let captin reply to this, but at 40mm and about 12mm high its a very nice size, big crown tho.... But overall far smaller than many a diver in this price bracket

I've got an Armida A1. Really solid watch with a great dome. Just away at mo and can't find a pic but would say its worth a look.

    Wertex

I'd say the best buy right now is a LNIB Wertex Automatic Swiss Made ETA 2824-2 Taucheruhr Diver 1600ft 500m on the 'bay right for £227...

+1......and if it goes wrong, folks like me can fix it!

Other than this, something Seiko would be the obvious choice. Their cheap mechanicals are excelent for the money. O

Or how about Citizen?......their cheap automatics are good too, with Myota movements. Last one I fixed had a new movement for £36!

    Seiko all the way.
Second hand if you can find one,

    SPORK

Or Sumo BFK 007. All great.

A bit further of the beaten track, give Deep Blue a look.

This one is very easy to wear, at 40mm some might think it's too small, I thought it was spot on.

Another one for the CWC RN Diver.

Had mine pressure tested and it accompanied me on our two weeks in Turkey on Lara Beach.

Excellent tool watch and if got asked about it twice, which really surprised.

    Pitch

  41. #41

    Predictable

Predictable I know, but the seiko skx007 made in japan would be my choice sub 300!

I'd love to see some pics, Malcolm. I'm debating one of the bronze versions. How's the fit & finish?

The crazy thing is that this watch cost €301 shipped (£262 at the time) earlier this year new from Roland Kemmner. So actually within budget and still my favourite of all my watches, including those costing many times as much.

Actually I now have two of these, almost identical.
A bit sad I know, but I like them so much I thought I'd better get a spare, just in case.

This is interesting and very rare model.
You can get it for about 330$ but you must order it from Japan
    ALTERNA VO10-6782B
    (it is eco-drive)

There was white indice model which came with bracelet but it was discontinued few years ago. But you can still order the bracelet.
