1000th post freebie - watch - THE RESULT.

    As instructed by burnsey66:

To celebrate my survival for long enough to make 1000 posts on this illustrious forum, I have decided that a magnanimous gesture is called for.

    So, free watch anyone?

Expert needed to identify the brand:

    Description:
A diver-style stainless steel case with matching stainless steel bracelet attached to the case in almost two places. It fits comfortably on a 9" plank with some to spare.
It has a non-moving non-centralised bezel which may mean it is a rare prototype.
There are some faint scratches to the crystal which are hard to capture on camera:

    Provenance:
It comes to me from a dear and trusted friend who is a concierge in a block of yuppie flats; consequently he has becomer a professional-standard skipdiver.

    Serial number:
Unable to divulge on an open forum. Especially as there are none. Once again this could point to it being a prototype.

    Carriage:
At my expense in the U.K. I am anxious that it reaches you in the same condition as it leaves me, so I will be packing it in this 10-watch display case:

    How to win:

The nearest guess of the distance in miles by road between the place in the U.K. of my father's birth and the place in the U.K. of my birth (there goes the alien pod theory) will win this extraordinay prize. I will close this contest at the commencement of the TV soaps on Tuesday evening 7th August 2012, unless there is an exact guess beforehand.
Should you not wish to win, don't forget to submit a post saying what a kind, generous person I am.

    Rules wot I forgot...

    One guess per member please.

Postage on me but only in UK.

And a pubic apology to W44NNE. I promised him a cherished number from a van I bought, but ended up in a cloning war and became so fed up that the van was summarily scrapped. Forgot all about it until his post above.

I'll take a punt at 202 miles - the same distance between my dad's place of birth and mine.

That's impossible, isn't it? 836 miles is as far as I can get in the UK.
Distance is as given by Google maps.

The correct distance required is by road, not as the crow flies.

    Top chap Alec.

I shall guess at 297 miles!

(based on your accent and where in the world you've ended up - family ties?)

I'm probably 296 miles out there!

Anyway, if I win it'll wait until the next Manchester booze up. I owe you a pint anyway, I'm sure.

Thanks for the compliment dandsoo; but note that I am only prepared to stand the postage costs within the U.K.
God, that makes me look like a real tight barsteward, doesn't it!

    Well, if the cap fits....
