A new Steinhart for those who think their watches are all derivative...

The Steinhart Le Mans GT: http://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/Le...matic,559.html

This is certainly a bit different!

A definate NO NO from me,but then again I'm no watch designer and could be totally wrong and this could be the next biggest seller and one to have.

Well I don't mind the hands or the crown, as for the rest, no thanks :)

They should probably stick to copying other people's designs. That's absolutely foul.

I like the ocean 2, but that really is very ugly.

It's like they tried to make it as ugly as possible.

LOL, not a popular watch round here then. I bet it will sell well though. ;-)

Good grief! Big fan of Steinhart, but I think I'll pass on this one.

My problem with steinhart is as you've alluded to - every time I see one of their watches that I like, it turns out to be a 'homage' to something else.

It's completely put me off the brand unfortunately.

At least this one's original - albeit a bit on the fugly side :)

You do not like the Triton then.

I just about choked when I got my email with this one! I've got a couple of steinharts but this is truly awful. Big no from me.

  18. #18
Not for me but making the bezel like a tire is quite clever.

Yes, and the dial as alloy wheels spokes. The whole concept is "it's a wheel" and can see this design being a good fit for one of the car marker branded watches. :)

The dial is nicely done imho:

Not for everyone but it is certainly not boring. For me the bold writing on the bezel is a no, they should have at least did it as black on black :)

I also own a Steinhart and would not mind owning one of the GT watches which everyone else finds fugly.

If this is the alternative, give me derivative.

  23. #23
Not for me, but good on them for trying - and the Triton works I think. I like Steinhart: just wish they'd make some with smaller cases.

  24. #24
    Hideous, absolutely hideous.

That's just so wrong on so many levels.

Not keen on that one, the OVM is my current Steinhart favourite.

Ha - I'm in Le Mans as we speak! Not for me thanks, but I will keep an eye out on the locals!

Like some of the design elements, but not in a watch.

  30. #30
    Do I not like that.

As a huge motorsports fan I can attest that the new design is eye wateringly painful to behold.

Please note it is not a slick, it is a treaded wet (or rain) tire. I wonder why it has "limited" water resistance? lol

Actually you're right - the Triton I do like.

I can only agree with the above though, this one looks like those clocks you can get for a fiver down the market :(

Perhaps. To me it's what a watch designed by the Top Gear boys would look like. In fact I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it as part of the next series.

Why do you think this design is Steinhart original? Look at the hands and spikes.

    It's a BRM watch.

Sometimes being different is good, and sometimes it's just plain stupid.

Big surprise from Steinhart. This is very out of character. I hope this is not a move in a new direction.

I've got a real soft spot for Steinhart and I expect it to be my next purchase but if it is it won't be this one. I don't think it works personally. Dislike.

Oh dear... Looks like some chav'd up Vauxhall Nova on a council estate.
They should stick to what they do best, good quality homage watches.

What a tired design...Leaves me kinda flat.

It might have been saved if the chapter rings were at least functional or readable, ditto if the bezel could be swapped out and replaced with one bearing a slogan of one's own choice. As is, thanks but no thanks.

And the Steinhart is exactly the same as this £5 wall clock from JML, Wilkinsons, Poundland and Woolies.
Horrible - I had one of these myself and it was illegible.

Not to my taste, I am afraid - though I am somewhat surprised by the 100% negative responses. I wouldn''t go as far as calling it a derivative, but it certainly leans against some of Chopard's designs (at least to some degree).

For all the forumites who hate this watch, here is a wrist shot of the one I own.
Having an 8" wrist it is not to large and after wearing it for 3 days it had gained 8 seconds.
I do not like the rubber strap all that much but Steinhart have a leather strap for £24 that I will purchase.

It would be a good buy for people who leave the labels on the sleeves of their suits. Not so much for other people.
