    Re: Who need a date?>>>>

    I do!
My favourite watches from an aesthetic point of view are non dates (explorer, sub nd, speedy pro)
But every time i wear my speedy I end up looking at the non existent date window! I just don't get used to it in the work environment!

Anyway, great pic of a great watch as always, thanks for sharing on the forum Jocke

    I definitely need a date.

I write the date on paperwork dozens of times a day, and I have to check nearly every time.

In fact I need the date function more than I need to tell the time.

I found I did, hence moved on my Sub no date very quickly.

As ever, superb photo with great use of light 8)

Yes, dateless watches do look best - but other than the odd manual wind for occasional use I just can't be doing with them at all sadly.

    Lovely watch incidentally....

Great shot. That is abou the only watch I could go no date with. In general, it's a must have feature.

    Thanks for sharing!

It may sound daft but I vastly prefer the look without date, but I look at the date so often my OCD requires my watches to have dates.

Also, when I'm at work on the computer if I need to know the time I'll look at my watch. But if I need to know the date I'll glance at the computer even though the time's right above it on the monitor

edit: btw your photo looks great :)

Well, no nééd but I do :bounce: a date, just not keen on it on a watch face, no exception. In the case of Rolex it is more extreme because of the magnifying glass.

    Congrats with the purist Rolex.

    Very nice foto, indeed.

I need the day and date functions all the time. Particularly when I am at work I write day and date beside very accurate time (Multiple log book entries on the ships) many times everyday. And besides, I need to know day and date each time I check my time on my watches.

Lovely watch but sadly I need the date.

A few years ago I bought a brand new Speedmaster Pro - wore it once - found I could not live without a date (I'm old school I'm afraid - use my mobile for making phone calls not for checking the date) - ended up flipping it after 2 weeks with a dealer in Maastricht for a Heuer Monaco re-issue :)

I will not buy a watch if it does not have a date. I have bought them, speedies etc but they soon get sold again.
    Gotta know the date.

I too write the date numerous times per day, since getting a submariner I just use my phone and remind myself to develop short term memory. The trade off , a really well balanced clean looking face.

I have a Speedy Pro and have found since getting it that I need to check the date less often when I wear it than when I wear any of my other watches - I make a conscious effort to remember it each day.

OTOH, many years ago I was a Royal Navy Navigation Officer and responsible for the ship's stock of watches. I had a CWC G10 Navigator which I used a lot at sea, especially for astro-navigation - very easy to read in low light. When a handful of CWC Quartz Divers arrived I tried one myslef; but after a couple of days it went back in the drawer because I simply couldn't manage without the date, given the number of times each day I needed to refer to it, for log entries and for calculations and checking tide tables, astronomical data, etc.

I can certainly appreciate the aesthetics of many non-date watches but, in the last 20 or so watches of mine, only two were 'without' - a vintage 1950s Omega and a Chronoswiss Timemaster 24-Hour (which I possessed purely because of the 24-hour complication) but, I will generally not entertain any non-date watch, especially one I plan to wear regularly. Sadly, it's what puts me off a Daytona.

A friend tells me that no date is required as his mobile has it.
    I disagree. I need a date.

In that case, I take it your friend doesn't posses a watch at all?

    Who need a date?>>>>

Nice pic but I need a date on my watch as every time I wear my Portuguese Chronograph I look for the date and if someone's looking for a response then I look like a retard if no ones looking then its a massive disappointment lol.

I'm afraid as I get older I find that
    a) I don't need the date as often
(in fact I don't even need to know what day it is :( :( ) and
    b) my eyesight isn't good enough to read the date on a watch without reading glasses.

    Re: Who need a date?>>>>

I have arrived at a compromise:-

-Date watches to work as we constantly need to see the date there

    -Non-date watches for weekends
