I am a HUGE, I mean H-U-G-E Muse fan... but...........

I am disappointed by their Olympic theme song. While it has some great musical elements, it just falls short to me. :? Perhaps it will be better when the perform it live.

I will still be buying the album on day one and getting tockets for a few US shows though. :)

Sounds a bit like a cross between ELO and Queen

    I like it :)

ELO and Queen is right - it's extremely derivative.

    Too contrived for me.

I was listening on Zane's show last night. Sounded like all their stuff and not very inspiring or lifting, what were the Olympic committie smoking? Same as when they chose the logo I guess :(

The Bloody honda car advert has better music. Impossible dream one/.

That's not good. I'm hoping I like the rest of the album.

They started out as a promising indie band, whats-his-muse was a bit of a piano prodigy I think as a kid

They've subsequently disappeared up their own 'kind of magic'.

overblown rock operatic fret wankery now seems to be their USP

Has any one looked at the lyrics of the songs!

I disagree, to a degree. Thier last album "The Resistance" was excellent and had a good mix of musical difference between the tracks. I will agree that some of their stuff has taken on a Queen-esque Rock-Opera sound and obviously, they were/are heavily influenced by Queen.

I still like them, have seen them live and buy some of their music. I just feel they are in danger of becoming a parody of the original muse.

That's fair, and I can certainly see your point there. I will reserve judgement until I listen to all of the new tracks a few times through.

I think from what they are saying the rest of the album is varied which is good, but that song was very familiar to me. THey were talking of their love for Rage Against the Machine which was cool, and trying to do things like they did in the world of music.

I don't agree but i do find that their first 3 albums were the best, and downhill from there. However still very good...
Saw them live twice, fantastic show both times

I liked every one of their albums so far with Black Holes And Revelations my favourite. Agree that this sounds very like Bryan May, but what's so wrong with that? Queen was a great band, and so is Muse. I am looking forward to their forthcoming album and already have tickets for their concert in Stockholm.

Will be putting Knights Of Cydonia on now. :headbang:

I'm afraid I'm one of the 'they were better in the old days' crowd.
I was lucky enough to see them in 1999 when they were still playing student unions...they were a blinding 3 piece rock band, clearly destined for stardom.
I saw them the following year at the Astoria....support was a very young very nervous band called Coldplay!
I appreciate every band needs to develop, but for me it's now way too overblown.

    Agree.

Muse are unfortunately going toward the overblown cod operatic style of my most loathed band, Queen.

I loved their earlier stuff but now ............
