    Heuer Audi Edition Watch

Scanning through the WTB section , I see Jason has a WTB for a spare link for a bracelet to fit a 'Heuer Audi Sport' ...........having never heard of such a thing , good old google pointed me to Neil @chronomaster who once sold one .

I'd have to say , I love the look of it :) 8)

    Anybody able to tell me some more about it ?.......ie;
Years in which they were made ?
    Any variations?
    Dimensions?
    New price ?
    Pre-owned value today ?
Rare or available from time to time ?
and of course , anyone know where I might get one !

    Re: Heuer Audi Edition Watch

I'm lucky to own one of these rare beasts.

It is a Lemania 5100 Driven Heuer, released in conjunction with Audi Sports success in the rallying of the late 70's, early 80's.
Believed to be available from a handful of Audi dealers as an option to buy if you bought a new Audi Quattro.

Here is a pic - the one on the right.. (not mine)

    More info here: http://www.chronomaddox.com/competit...di_v_audi.html

    and here: http://www.classic-audi.co.uk/forum/...f08f6f2&t=6638

    To answer your questions..

The one that Neil sold, I belive the crystal was incorrect, should have a flat mineral glass.

Years in which they were made ?
No exact data is available, as you might know, this is 'standard' in the world of Heuers. Best guesses are that they were available in low numbers for a very short time frame, 1 or 2 years max. Probably made available around 1980-82. Other sentiment is that they were only made in extremely low numbers, so may only have been available for a very short time frame - 6 mths maybe. Others have noted that they were not available at Heuer dealers/ADs.

    Any variations?
    Not that are known of

    Dimensions?
Similar to taht of the 510 Heuer series, so around 42mm case. Big

    New price ?
Not known, as mentioned, there is sufficient evidence that these were only available as a option to buy if you ordered a new Audi Quatroo from a selected few showrooms. Not known if this was limited to Europe.

    Pre-owned value today ?
£2k+ ish, difficult to pin down due to such low numbers that have ever been seen in an open market - could go to £3k. On a par with AMI Lemania 5100 military Heuers, I'd say. Values are rising quickly, especially with the added Heuer connection to the current Audi Sport e Mans success. It's a very special Heuer, it pulls together various elements that envelope the entire Heuer story - motorsport, Lemania etc. One of only a handful of Heuers that actually have a motorsport team on the dial.

Rare or available from time to time ?
Super super rare - but what are the chances that 3 turn up on ebay this afternoon, now I've said that.
I have one, I know of 2 collectors over on OTD that have one.

and of course , anyone know where I might get one !
    Sorry - no idea.

    Hope that helps!

     Sh*t - really!

G60 - That's very interesting, and quite a shocker, ie the seriously low numbers.
Not that I'm 'questioning' your info - how/where did you get this info? I only ask, as I'm in the process of doing a write up on them when I get around to properly photographing mine.

PS. Congrats on being in Team: Heuer Audi Sport club :salute:

There were only 200 of the sport Quattros built for Group B homologation, all LHD.
I used to have the breakdown of how many in uk and elsewhere, back when I was involved with the Quattro Club.

    Cheers Roger,
What is the official name/model no. of that car. Goggle searcheds throw up the standard Quattro (like the Ashes to Ashes one)?

    Heuer Audi Edition Watch

FWIR it was just Sport Quattro SWB, the other (ashes to ashes one) was known as the Ur-quattro, still only Just over 13000 made worldwide over the 9 to 10 years.

    Heuer Audi Edition Watch

A nice clean looking example, 84 model with early digi dash, air cooled turbo and non-torsion diff if the plate is original.

    Re: Heuer Audi Edition Watch

The one that Neil had was mine originally. I met up with him many years ago with a view
to selling one or two pieces. I foolishly sold him this Heuer, a lemania single button navy chonograph and a mk ll speedmaster. He gave me a fair price but over the last few years I have kicked myself for this and continue to do so even more vigoursly since joining this forum
    :( :(

Great watches, I think it was '81 that Piaget bought the Lemania part of SIHH, and '82 for Piaget buying Heuer before the TAG buyout of '85; so a short time period of turmoil and a brief marriage of Lemania (Nouvelle Lemania) and Heuer, very interesting period.

I believe most are 5100s (modified to delete the 24hr hand and day functions) but some are 5012 powered (a lower beat 5100, minus 24hr and day function).

That's correct. The 'Cal. 11' website did a piece about them, saying that it was a modified 5100, which was unusual as the 24hr-less 5012 was available.

It was a mix-n-match period definitely, my 5100 powered 510-501 deletes the day, has the Heuer script inline with the date, the next batch had the Heuer above the date but still deleted the day (as per the Carrera 523(?)) and then yet another batch had the Heuer script above the day and had the day there as well. I think there was a 5012 used in one type which added a 24hr dial, at the same time they were taking 24hr dials off the 5100s they had... :)

Really nice one. I stopped my golf career with a 1987 Gti 16v with all the extras (VW Werkzauto). I wish I hadn't sold it.
I love the quattro, but I have never seen a short/sport for sale.. pretty rare.

Well, I can't see a Lemania driven example, but there is this Val, 7750 here: http://www.chrono24.com/en/certina/q...hResultIndex=1

  26. #26

    Re: Heuer Audi Edition Watch

Here's the Lemania version, quite reasonable for chrono24 I'd say, if all is pucker, bien sur.-

    http://www.chrono24.com/en/lemania/cron ... 787845.htm

No affiliation etc. and it's not got any Heuer or Audi script on it - so about as far from the original topic as you can get, but what is essentially the same watch....

Just to add that although it says 1970 on it the 5100 didn't exist till 72-74ish; I don't know any more on the dates except the case (Lemania) predated the Heuer version slightly.

As you can see - this example is definitely a 5100 - the full panoply of dials; the Audi is missing the 24hr and the day - this would be a pointer for a 5012 (or even a 134x) however it appears that most are 5100s with these options deleted - if that makes things clearer for anyone!?!

(Similar to the Sinn 156 first version using a 5012 and the second version a 5100...)

Keep your eye out Stevie, they do popup from time to time. As a rough guide, maybe 1 per year or less.
The problem is that they are snapped up very quickly, and tend to be 'keepers' for those who do have them. It's a very very special watch.

Afraid not, but the bracelet is unbranded, wonder if there are others that are the same, maybe by Lemania themselves or Lejour perhaps Orfina maybe?

I just love the Audi Sport, I bought mine about 10 years ago. I have worn it regularly. When I saw the Lemania come up on eBay the followign year i had to buy that as well. The Lemania is pretty different but uses the same case and unbranded bracelet, the Heuer has a branded bracelet. The Heuer gets most wrist time. The lemania hardly any.

Love both the Lemania & the Heuer, I bought mine from an Audi sales manager, retired, who was given it by Audi for his record breaking year in sales.

It was a well worn non-runner.

    Yes it is.

Hopefully it is a clean as the photographs suggest. Complete with the original band which I'll replace in the name of preservation with a Di Mondell Rallye.

If it's the one that was on ebay recently, you got it for a great price. Great watch, but not tied same family as the Lemania 5100 driven pieces in this thread. It is however the same family as the 7750 driven Heuer Montreals and Pasadenas.

    Re: Heuer Audi Edition Watch

I fell in love with the Heuer Audi Sport many years ago when I spotted the picture of the one Neil had sold. It took me a little over 3 years to track mine down, but it was a Grail of mine and I am a pretty stubborn fellow when it comes to Lemania 5100 chronographs. So I finally bought one from a well-known Canadian collector and it's been one of the stars of my collection ever since.

Given the XXL size of my wrists (a source of many problems when wearing my vintage watches), I too could have done with a few spare links for this chrono, but those are pretty impossible to track down. So I ended up fitting a spring-loaded bracelet extender, and the end result is actually not too shocking.
