Chrono central minute hands - show me yours?

My first ‘proper’ watch was the Speedmaster cal 1045 and ever since I have been a big fan of the central minute hand configuration for chronographs.

The Omega cal 1045 movement in this watch is derived from probably the most well known movement of this type, the Lemania 5100:

I have also been lucky enough to own the lump that is the Omega Speedmaster 125, that carries the Omega cal 1041, (derived from the Lemania 1341) and the movement that claims to be the first automatic winding chronometer rated chronograph.

Obviously the primary supplier of this, (mechanical) style chrono movement is Lemania but the movement itself, (or derivatives thereof) has been used in a huge range of different manufacturers watches, including:

Lemania themselves, Omega, Sinn, Tutima, Orfina, Heuer, (great guide here: http://www.onthedash.com/Guide/_Chronog ... 00_Series/ ) Wakmann, Tissot, B&R, Fortis and this list is far from exhaustive…

(One I missed is Diavoli Rossi - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=227355 - surely the cheapest 5100 powered watch I have seen for a while!)

My latest watch , (in case anyone missed it) also houses a 5100, the EZM1:

Then there is also the quartz version used in Eddies PRS17 and a Revue Thomnen amongst others.

Most lately there has been the Sinn EZM10 housing the SZ01 movement that Sinn developed from a base Valjoux 7750 to have the central minute counter and recording a full 60 minutes elapsed time.

Next year rumour has it that Sinn will be releasing the new 140 range with the SZ01 movement – more here: http://tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&p=2211300 – some say, like the EZM10 it is overpriced and I tend to agree, although with the years of investment to create the SZ01 I suppose it’s understandable…

Please share your thoughts on the central minute hand chrono layout – and more importantly post up your pics, the more the merrier, but it would be great to see some of the rarer watches with this configuration as well as the usual suspects!

    Cheers,

    Rob

The uppermost Omega has to me - a very appealling look.

Classic design, ultra-clear markings............... a keeper.

That's a nice looking 7A28 Seiko chronograph, but it doesn't have a chrono central minute hand!

Welcome to the forum Pascal. :)

That's a pretty impressive collection  , I spot a Speedy Grail and at least a couple of Sinns amongst all the rest... Would love to see some individual pics if you have some?

    Thanks for posting the group!

But there are some real gems in there! Very nice collection!

If I may, I'll make a few additional comments though:
    • The Dugena was made by Lemania itself and uses the same case design as the Heuer Audi Sport (also made directly by Lemania). Unlike the latter or the Lemania branded version (including one with PVD finish like this one, its tachy scale is printed on the crystal. On the others, it is an internal chapter ring. It is to be noted that Sinn also ordered a few of these watches to Lemania, but they were two-tone versions (with the printed tachy scale).[/*:m:qhx7bxr1]
    • The Nivada looks like a Franken to me. It seems like the whole original movement-dial-hands assembly has been dropped in a NOS Orfina case (many of those were available on eBay a few years ago). Interesting effect though...[/*:m:qhx7bxr1]
    • I wouldn't call the Lemania "FIFA", as it was not made (and co-branded) for this organization. It is the same watch as the Omega FIFA, that's a fact, but I would preferable call the Lemania version "Football" or "Referee" to avoid confusion. And if you have the opportunity, I'd be interested in knowing what the case references are on yours. It should at the very least have the Omega reference (11003) engraved inside the caseback, and it may have the Heuer one engraved outside it.[/*:m:qhx7bxr1]
    • The Tutima and the Sinn are drop-dead gorgeous![/*:m:qhx7bxr1]

That one I particularly like - classic Flieger look with usable L5100 and neutral bezel (neither CDT nor dive timer). Are they very rare?

    Extremely rare, unfortunately. :|

I was very lucky to find one at a good price, and it's a watch I have great pleasure wearing it, either on its original bracelet or on a strap...

    - Eberhard Grande Croisière

    - Lorenz automatic chronograph

    - My 2 Tissot Navigator, one of which I still bitterly regret selling...

    - Pryngeps Gran Sport

    - Mondia automatic chronograph

    - Paul Picot Telemark (which incidentally is the smallest Lemania 5100 chrono ever made)

You'll be waiting a while. Sorry. I've been wanting a bezelled Commando for years now, and have only just found it (let alone got it).

In the mean time, I feel that my single group shot is not deserving of the thread, so thought I would add some more shots, but other than the Tutima above, and this Blue Dialled Lemania 5100 in the style of a Sinn 142

I don't have anything else that hasn't already been posted.

EZM1, Fortis Ti Lemania LE, Omega 176.0012, Lorenz chrono-sub, PD Orfina. All been posted already. All my other ones have gone.

You've kept some serious classics though. That "Sinn 142-like" Lemania is drop-dead gorgeous!

Forced by events, I'm following a similar path with my collection. I abhor selling my watches, but I find out that there are actually few of them that I really miss. But some of the remaining ones would have to be pried from my cold dead fingers!

I'm now going to post a couple of pictures of a watch I (unfortunately) don't own but that I find extremely interesting because as far as I know it is the only Lemania 5100 chrono in a truly square case:

    the Alain Silberstein Jumbo Krono

Absolutely the greatest thread on TZ-UK in a long time (IMHO), even though I don't actually like chronographs all that much. I do have this little guy though.
