Mention of the Berlinale prompted me to watch Jafar Panahi's Taxi, which won the Golden Bear last year. I thoroughly enjoyed travelling through the streets of Tehran with genial Panahi, meeting an eclectic group of passengers along the way. It's a series of mini-dramas; some lighthearted, some slightly farcical, some poignant, with frequent references to the restrictions on film-making and distribution in Iran.
A few great performances from real people, including his niece, Hana. No credits though, as Panahi is banned from directing in Iran. I hope that he does manage to continue to make films under the radar, as he's a hopeless taxi driver.

Just watched a classic "The Shinning" if you have seen it before I would suggest reading some blogs and checking YouTube then watching it again, total different moves with so much conspiracy it's unreal,

I just watched the quirky, independent 'I Origins'. Different and interesting. If you watch it, be sure to watch the 5 second scene after the end credits.

Quite dark, gritty and a good cast.
Hail, Caesar, Geroge Clooney reunited with the Coen brothers, a properly funny affectionate parody of the last days of the Hollywood studio system and beautifully shot. Saw it as part of the Glasgow Film Festival last Wednesday. Go and see it when it gets a full release in March.

Watched 'Fury' last night, Brad Pitt takes the part of a tank commander in WW2, very good.
Wasn't bad, but I thought the casting of Kate Winslett was somewhat odd.

Saw 'Room' and thought it was pretty good. It's messed up that what happens in the film actually happens in real life.

Saw Haywire this weekend and really enjoyed it. Didn't know anything about the plot so it was a tense story.
Loved it, every bit as high brow and grown up as I expected.
Sunday evening was the last night of Berlinale and we managed to get tickets for Saint Amour with Gerard Depardieu (although Benoît Poelvoorde steals it as the son). Tells the story of a father-and-son road trip tacked onto the end of a big Paris agricultural show. Not great cinema and with a cheesy soundtrack however the comic timing has been worked to perfection and there were probably a dozen side-splittingly funny moments.

Watched 'No Escape' last night - Owen Wilson, Lake Bell & Pierce Brosnan.
I thought it was really good - some real edge of the seat moments.

Didn't really care if he lived or died! And the two female 'attractions,' Gina Carano and teen Brianna Hildebrand, were both oozing with baby fat. I wanted to like the film but two stars from me would be very generous.
Not sure how I missed 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', but watched it last night and thought it was pure fun.
I believe it is the only Marvel film to be rated US (R) UK (15), too much violence/blood/swearing and jokes that preteens would not like or understand.
I watched it last night and thought it was very good and very funny, surprised that it was not filmed in 3D.

Saw "London Has Fallen" tonight. I liked "Olympus Has Fallen" but this made for a great sequel. Totally unrealistic for the most part but a good watch nonetheless.
Some trailers before the film looked okay as well. There's a film coming out with Aaron Paul and Helen Mirren that looks okay... Eye in the Sky I think.
A well deserved 8.6 IMDB score, great feel good movie, based on a true story.

I second this. I too watched it on a flight to the USA. A fascinating insight into the life of a remarkable young woman and, arguably, a just as remarkable father.

I had a piece of "Kill the Irishman" the other night. Not bad at all, I'd give it a 7.5/10 I guess...
Went to see Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice on Sat night. My 9 year old son has been waiting nearly 2 years to see it.
Perhaps I'm becoming a grumpy old man but the plot was all over the place, BA as BM didn't really do it for me and it seemed just one big explosion after another.
I've never liked Superman, even as a kid but if there is a single human being on the planet that can take on that character after Christopher Reeves, it is Henry Cavill - the man seems born to it.
As a comic book fan I loved batman vs superman. It's a film made for the fans and not the critics. Sure there were some issues with the film but it was way better than man of steel and affleck is less annoying than Bale as batman.

I saw Batman etc on Friday and thought it was excellent. Quite dark and a little slow paced but all the better for it.

Agree. Redmayne excellent (far better performance than in The Danish Girl) and Felicity Jones wonderfully understated.

Rewatching Zodiac last night, the story (unsurprisingly) of the Zodiac killer, based in San Francisco and the surrounding area from the late 60's onwards.
It's such a great movie, probably one of David Finchers best. Utterly engrossing the whole way through, especially knowing that it's a true story and was never actually solved. Well worth a watch if you can pick up a copy - sadly it's not on Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc!

Ive not seen it yet but I was on another forum where the hardcore DC comic fans were going crazy as one of the superheroes in the films has apparently started killing people left right and centre which is against the superheroes ethics (hence the reason why he has never had a gun so they all say!!)
I did not mind Bale except his ridiculous voice when in Batman persona!!!

That was a dream sequence. I never saw either of the two main characters kill anyone (intentionally).
I suggest you make your own mind up. Don't be a troll.
Not trolling; I genuinely do believe it's a bad movie, based on what I've read. However, as you say, I'll make my own mind up (though I won't be forking out cash to see it).
My point was just that 'made for fans, not critics' is a phrase I associate with some of the worst movies ever made.
