Nymphomaniac, Parts 1 & 2.
I now understand why the actor Shia lost his mind briefly!

The Hundred foot journey, watched it on Friday night, really enjoyed it.
Watched Fury last night, really enjoyed it. Worth a watch.
What We Do in the Shadows is clever and totally enjoyable. Think Blair Witch meet True Blood/Twilight.
I agree. While I liked the overall story, cast, and special effects, I found many of the plot twists to be unrealistically simple - - more of what I would expect in a Power Rangers movie than a serious 2014 drama. These 'transgressions' made it impossible for me to consider it as a top-tier film.
Maze Runner, watched it last night on our projector, it really benefited from the big screen, and the movie is best watched with the sound ramped up as the effects are great.
I watched way,way back and despite its name its quite endearing.
Watched "Castles in the Sky" last night, the story was based on Robert Watson Watt, the pioneer of Radar, although not a big budget BBC movie I really enjoyed it.
Nightcrawler last night, surprisingly dark and Jake Gylanhall put in a pretty good and mildly disturbing performance as the main character, worth a watch IMHO
Twelve Years A Slave
Excellent film. Won several Oscars. A much easier watch than I was expecting, though still gruelling in places.
Bullhead - thriller about a steroid-boosting farmer lost in the moral maze of Belgium's mafia underworld.
Good vibrations - A chronicle of Terri Hooley's life, Belfast's punk Godfather and record-store owner during the troubles.
just finished watching nightcrawler. loved it.
I've seen a few recently.
The Hunger Games Mockingjay:
Fine. You get what you expect. I haven't enjoyed any of the others, but the missus drags me to see them. 6/10
Lucy:
Fine. Not as good as it could be. The idea that humans can become more powerful as the use more of their brain is interesting, but the cut scenes and count down of her being able to use more of her brain were crude. Scarlett Johansen and Morgan Freeman are decent which stops this film being a complete failure. It was a short film but modern standards, but it should have been a lot longer. There was a lot of room for her to use here powers more and make the movie a bit more of a spectacle. The ending was average. 5.5/10
Edge of Tomorrow:
Tom Cruise film with some time travel. Very well done. Decent plot, well acted with good effects. Like Groundhog Day mixed with Saving Private Ryan. Worth a watch. 8.5/10
Prisoners:
Not a happy film, very bleak, but very well acted and presented. Despair, violence and hopelessness are portrayed very well with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gylenhall working well together. Not an uplifting film, but thoughtfully put together. 8.5/10
Predestination: Another film with time travel. It has a plot that could be very hard to understand, but it is explained simply in the plot. Unfortunately, it is explained too simply and that makes any twist impossible as everything is completely signposted to you in advance. Great idea, with less than perfect execution.. Still worth a watch. 6/10
Housebound.
Excellent horror with dry humour.
I really enjoyed it.
St Vincent.
Hilarious in parts, well worth watching.
Excellent parts played by all the cast. Murray is on top form and Naomi Watts is funny as his pregnant "girlfriend"
I enjoyed Django Unchained
Watched Boyhood last night, great film and considering they filmed it with the same characters over 14 years quite an amazing undertaking!!
Predestination
Nightcrawlers
I'm sure that's not the only film with Dallas in the title owned by a few on here.
Saw The Shooting Party again on Iplayer. Not the first time I've seen it but still stands the test of time. Another which was unexpectedly enjoyable was Come as You Are about a roadtrip by a trio of disabled friends to a brothel in Spain.

Saw The Painted Veil last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.
1920's Chinese countryside with Cholera thrown in may not sound like a good time but a very good cast; Edward Norton, Naomi Watts, Toby Jones really made it something special.
Mind you I could look at Naomi watts all day!
Cheers,
Neil.
Just watched Gone Girl, really quite good, but with a strange ending.
Will watch The Equalizer tomorrow night.
Just taken the kids to watch paddington, worth a look for little ones
Hobbit five armies tonight, pretty good end to the multi year, multi film Peter Jackson mega series of films and I enjoyed it a lot more than the last one!
The frozen ground ,based on a true story, serial killer
My favourite film that I have watched recently - Automata:
"Flight"
Much better than anticipated - had me truly involved (at one point saying "don't do it, don't do it!" at the TVs screen!)
Anyone with self-destructive tendencies will find it especially engaging.
Gone Girl - really enjoyed this film. Typical David Fincher but kept you guessing all of the way through. Some good acting from all involved as well.
"Get Santa"
Took my daughter yesterday and really enjoyed it myself, very funny.
Watched Only Lovers Left Alive and was very impressed. Probably a bit arty and navel gazing for some, but great performances by Tilda and Tom, and I loved the way the characters histories were almost underplayed with a few lines of dialogue here and there.
Watched a merry frigging Christmas the other day. Not spectacular but does have Robin Williams in it. Was a different Christmas film.
Also saw expendables 3, which as an action fan was simply brilliant (I grew up watching Arnie and Stallone so it's in my blood)
I'm glad you enjoyed it - I thought it was dire.
Watching Stalingrad , the recent one, on Loveflim, bloody brilliant, very rough, as you would expect from the title but well made ....
Cheers..
Jase
Just done watching the film, I-Origins, really enjoyed it. Recommended.
Really enjoyed 'Hugo' which is doing the loop on Filmfour just now. Martin Scorsese's venture into an arty film with Ben Kingsley and Jude Law.
I watched 'Under The Skin' the other night. Deliciously dark, enigmatic piece reminiscent of 'The Man Who Fell To Earth'.
Oh and just in case anyone has missed this 2012 release, check out Andrew Dominik's 'Killing Them Softly'. It's an utterly sublime acting and editing masterclass. One of my top 10 films of all time.
