The man who would be king, Connery and Caine at their best.

Totally agree, I'd been waiting for this film for months and I was worried it would be a big let down. Finally saw it last night and it blew me away! I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen it yet to go and watch it on the big screen while you can. My wife thought it was amazing too and she hates F1.
Watching Sleepers tonight , great film but gives me the shivers!
If you've not seen this, seek it NOW
Funniest film I've seen in years, OMG it's absolute quality
We went to the cinema tonight to see Prisoners, 2.5hrs long, but pretty good imo.
Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine. Penelope and I both liked it. It really isn't a substantial film, but it isn't trying to be. The performances were very good. Cate Blanchett is a fine actress.
Best wishes,
Bob

Behind the Candelabra, stellar performances
I wanted to like it too. I loved the first JJ Abrahams rebooted film (despite assuming it would be rubbish based on his track record...'Lost' FFS!) but enjoy repeat viewings even today. As for Into Darkness, I have no particular desire to see it again having seen it with the family at the cinema. It did well at the cinema though so what do I (a lifelong Start Trek fan) know?
I really liked it. One for the DVD collection to watch on a quiet night in. The girlfriend was a bit teary at the end (in a good way). Starts off slow and you think it is going to be another coming of age film, which it is actually, but really gets going and very well done.
Wen to see 'The Call' with Halle Berry.
Not a bad film, but probably a DVD one rather than a cinema one.
We have the Cineworld pass, so it didn't cost us any extra.
Rush. Very enjoyable. Ron Howard does a damn fine job.
Europa Report - one of the best films I have seen in years. I've never expected it to impress me so strongly, thought it's just another SF. Boy, was I wrong...
PS: Just noticed that it's rated with a meagre 6,5 on IMDB. I dare say, this does not speak about the film, but about the viewers.

I found Europa Report a chore to watch - comparisons with Moon are nowhere close in my opinion.
Retro cracker from the John Carpenter stable - THEY LIVE - haven't seen it in years. Now known as a cult classic and rightly so, an absolute cheesefest but still a clever commentary on our Western world.
Full movie's currently up on YouTube
STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS - freakin' loved it! The actors fit the characters really well, a few good laughs, and a nice clever reveal which fans will love. Really enjoying the reboot of this series! - 9/10
EUROPA REPORT - meh! Liked it for about the first half as interesting, mostly unknown (to me) actors, but kinda runs out a bit later on - 5/10
And something a bit less mainstream, a wee sleeper from a couple years ago spotted on Film4 the other night -
THE JONESES - David Duchovny and Demi Moore showing they're still bloody good actors, clever wee story, bit of a dark comedy. Oh, and Amber Heard - 7/10 (of course, 11/10 for Amber!)
Tarantino - The Man with the Iron Fists. Not his best but convoluted and entertaining.
I think I enjoyed this one more than the first. Benedict Cumberbatch was a fantastic villain, though he's really good in anything he does. Karl Urban does an amazing turn as Bones (and it took me a while to recognize him as the bad guy from The Bourne Supremacy). I was a little warmer to Simon Pegg's Scotty this time. I was slightly surprised by the direction they took "Captain" Pike's story in, and still have trouble mentally processing the difference between Christoper Pike and Chris Pine.
I felt I should have understood the film's plot a bit faster than I did.
Overall, an excellent film for Trek fans.
Saw Filth tonight, certainly pretty wild ride and a few moments that took me quite by surprise, James McAvoy is certainly one hell of an actor though. Don't recommend going to see this one with elderly relatives if you know what I mean!!!
Compulsion, with the voluptuous Heather Graham. A delicious watch, and not one to view with your wife/gf, not because it's porn - it isn't - but because it will give her ideas you really, really don't want her to have.
Two Guns - implausible but enjoyable romp. Edward James Olmos has made a few visits to the pie shop since Miami Vice days. Mark Wahlberg good value for money as usual.
Went to see Captain Phillips last night and loved it, a 10/10 for me.
We saw Le Week-End last weekend. Pretty light, but interesting.
It changed my behaviour in one respect. Penelope and I have a dinner to attend in London later in the autumn. We had been checking train times to see when we could both get to London and back (leaving from different places, but going back to the same place). It all looked very complicated and pretty expensive, with late night train travel thrown in to boot. After seeing the film, I said "ah, the Hell with it" and booked a room at an expensive (for us) hotel just a couple of underground stops away (dinner Mayfair, hotel Kensington). We, however, are expecting actually to pay the bill. :)
Best wishes,
Bob
I watched two movies yesterday that I've been trying to get round to for ages.
One was Machete with Danny Trejo, the other was Hobo With a Shotgun with Rutger Hauer.
The former was the worst movie I've ever seen, the latter was one of the best!
Has anyone watched a film called 'Thursday' ?
I went to see gravity last night. It was predictable but I liked. It had some really well done space scenes.
Frost Nixon....saw it for the first time last night. Excellent
Saw Woody Allen's latest Blue Jasmin last night, quite good.
Headhunters... great film watched last night. If not seen before watch it!

The last few good films Ive seen were
The Wee man - about gangster Paul Ferris.
The Counterfeiters - all about counterfeiting during WW2. Incredible film.
Jiro Dreams of Sushi - documentary about 3 M8chelin starred sushi chef Jiro Ono. I need to eat at his restaurant!
'Angel's Share'
Low-budget, Scottish swearfest, and not for the easily offended!
Gritty and very stupid, but great fun and very funny - you'll feel the urge to have a wee dram during the course of this one!
Captain Philips is most enjoyable, with Tom Hanks putting in yet another sterling performance.
"Come and See"
Excellent but strange (Soviet film school) and very, very brutal war film.
R.I.P.D was rubbish, I'm watching Parkland tonight and hoping for better.
