    Hunger on Netflix

A Thai film about cooking doesn't sound that interesting but it is very entertaining. The character development of both chefs is good and you empathise with both, even the antagonist. The "menus" for the meals he produces are very apt for the clients and the final cook off is great. Not particularly heavy either. Well worth a watch.

Me too, I thought it was an excellent film, not your usual expected fare from Guy.

Jake and especially the gent that played his ‘interpreter’ were superb.

    Solid 8/10

Watched Copland again after perhaps 15 years - forgot that Stallone could act a bit.

    Great cast too.

Another vote for the Covenant. Watched it last night too and felt for all those left behind.

    One of faves.

Fast X is just…inane…a pulsing headache of a film….awful. Everything crashes into everything which then blows up. Vin Diesel plays a stultifying, monosyllabic bore. There’s lots and lots and lots of CGI augmented fighting. The worst film I’ve ever paid to see.

Though not a film per se, but looking forward to Season 4 of Jack Ryan at the end of the month.

I quite enjoyed it, it is what you expected surely? Or you’ve missed the last 5 or so.

I also enjoyed watching it mid week and mid afternoon in launch week with only 2 others in the cinema Sat way behind me, so felt like we had the place to ourselves.

It's a really good film with a cast full of very big stars. I agree Stallone gave a good performance too

Watched this last night. Thought it was a well made film apart from the 'endless' magazines in Jake Gyllenhaal's gun (reminded me of Clint Eastwood's sub machine gun in Where Eagles Dare)

Watched Hostiles with Christian Bale, Wes Studi, Rosamund Pike and quite a few other good actors. Really enjoyed it and a bit of a different western.

Last chance to watch it on Netflix is today (10/06).

'Just watched this also. I nominated Bill Nighy on the "National Treasures" thread and I think his understated but brilliant performance in this film goes a long way to justify his inclusion

Tetris is surprisingly entertaining. In fact, considering it’s a movie about a video game contract negotiation, it’s incredibly entertaining.

Just enjoyed a couple of movie nights on my 2 days off

'Boyz n the Hood' on Netflix last night, quality that film takes me back to my Yoof, found it even more emotional this time around for some reason ??

'The Covenant' this evening, Guy Richie film but very different to his usual style, well worth a watch for 2 hours though

Saw Sanctuary last week, starring Margaret Qualley (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood...also the daughter of Andie MacDowell) and Christopher Abbott.

Very different. The entire movie is about a single night in a single apartment house...much like a play. It reminds me of 50 Shades of Grey, only more cerebral. Although the topic is S&M on the surface, the film is really a power struggle that twists and turns throughout. Very unexpected ending.

Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes at 90% positive.

I recommend it. My wife hated it but I loved it.

I really enjoyed Fall one evening.

I hate heights and I genuinely felt vertiginous sitting on my sofa at times.

Not a huge amount of plot, but worked really well.

Watched it last night and thought it was terrible because it was all non stop action and not much story.

Just goes to show how different we all are.

    Yes just watched "Blackbird".

The screen was very blurry at the end caused by the tears.

Made me realise what I have should be loved & appreciated & realise things might not always be there or the same!.

I watched Falling Down for the first time in a long time. Great film.

Not quite up to the standards of Rise of the foot soldier 27, but great none the less 😁

Headed out to the cinema for the first time in years last night to see The Eight Mountains, an arthouse film about the lifelong highs and lows of friendship between two boys (and a father) at various periods of their life.

Principally filmed in the Italian Alps with some amazing scenes and cinematography. It is a subtitled slow burner 'artsy' film, so not one for the guns and explosions action fans, but we both really enjoyed it.

Nice to be able to sit with a beer and a glass of wine in the theatre too.

Dennis Hopper's 'Colors' is on Prime. Outstanding 80s US street gang drama that is actually better than I remember it. Sean Penn rocks a F91w throughout.

New Indiana Jones is surprisingly decent, pays homage to the original exceptionally well after the Crystal Skull lost the sagas way a tad.

There definitely just has to be a sequel. Cannot wait. To be honest the ending set it up to be a series.

I recorded that last night, can't wait to have an evening home alone - couple of beers and 90 minutes of Kowalski.

Good recommendation on the new Indiana Jones MattMM. The last one would have completely put me off that

I treated myself to my favourite film of all time today.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Simply magnificent on every front. I really do not believe this film has an equal.

Watched Bone Tomahawk last night. Actually a very interesting movie, quite clever but as a warning it has the absolute most horrific death scene I've ever seen in a film, it is absolutely harrowing and not for those of a nervous disposition.

The scene is kind of necessary and it isn't a gore flick per se but rather a stylised Western. Good film but be warned of the shocking death scene.
