Another great film IMO. So much better than a string of action set-pieces.

In fact, Reapeaters is a bit like Chronicle in the sense that it's more representative of how people might really act in such circumstances.

Ah - have seen both Hidden and Funny Games as well as White Ribbon without making the connection - hidden in particular is a movie have never really forgotten - strangely compelling

I also saw "End of Watch" with Jake Gylenhaal. A cop/buddy movie, but different enough to be worth watching. It has chick flick elements that mean the laydeez might also enjoy it. It's very sweary.[/QUOTE]

I watched this last night, agree it's a bit of a "bro'mance" but worth watching!

We watched Hitchcock last night, and though it probably has been recommended already, I need to mention it. A very good and interesting portrait of a truly interesting man, the two loves of his life and his urge to break new ground and explore the art of film making with his own road map. Recommended!

    If only!

I watched The Man With The Golden Gun last week, and couldn't help but wax nostalgic for the days when Bond movies were fun.

Prometheus. I was expecting bad things, as it get very mixed reviews, and some trashed it. I thought it was very good.

I now have "White Ribbon" for my viewing pleasure and also now "End of Watch" for the Mrs.

We watched "The Paperboy" recently. It's a grimy, seedy film which is really well directed, great dialogue and excellent performances from all the leads including Macy Gray and Nicole Kidman.

Saw 'Iron Giant' with my 2 year old over Easter, she loved it... & so did I. Animated story about boy meets giant robot death machine... what's not to love.

I agree. It's one of those films that just never puts a foot wrong. I watch it probably once every year or two, and it just never goes stale. (Casino is pretty close IMO)

Yes, I enjoyed it. You don't have to be a baseball fan to appreciate it either.

While Goodfellas is perhaps a better movie, Casino is at least as enjoyable - must watch both again soon

    Unfortunately i have to disagree.
It was one of the most drawn out and boring films i have ever watched. And i think that actually, you do need to have a working interest of baseball for it to be even the smallest bit interesting. I think it is very much aimed at the stats obsessive US sports fan.

This movie was one of the biggest suprise in recent times for me. It has a new style in argentine cinema. I highly recommend Ricardo Darin's movies like Nine Queens, Chinese Take-Away, The Aura, etc.

Continuing my highly intellectual exploration of 1950s sci-fi, It! The Terror From Beyond Space (1958):

Actually a pretty good movie - and very clearly the inspiration for Alien (1979), despite Ridley Scott's repeated denials.

Joaquin Phoenix in The Master, another movie which people seem to either love or hate. I enjoyed it, the lead actors gave great performances.

..next on my list to watch, thank you. 1965 I believe. I understand that one (Planet of the Vampires in English) was the basis for Alien's cinematography, though I can't comment as I have not seen it yet.I will once I have seen it though...

    It!
has almost exactly the same plot as Alien though - Alien is virtually scene by scene remake.

When Carpenter could make an unashamed (and brilliant) remake of The Thing From Outer Space in '82, I wonder why there was all the 'It's not a remake' nonsense about Alien?

A French Film called The Intouchables - not sure of the French Spelling.

funny and thought provoking and best of all based on a true story.

Better than Lincoln and Argo - and should have won an Oscar for best film - IMHO

Just watched The Cabin in the Woods.
I don't normally go for out & out 'horror' movies but this one offers a quirky take on the genre that appealed to my sense of humour. Gory but funny. Worth a watch.

No, it wasn't the movie I was expecting either from Josh Whedon; terrible!

I watched The Master recently and I fall into the hate camp. It just didn't connect with me. I was disappointed as I'm fan of PT Anderson, I loved There Will be Blood.

I saw Cockneys vs Zombies the other night. I thought it was OK, but no more. On the plus side, it does have Alan Ford reprising his Brick Top performance.

Haven't been following this thread and I'd be surprised if the film hasn't been mentioned before but The King's Speech has just started on Channel 4, easily in my top 5 that I've seen.

I shall now enjoy my 5th time of viewing, such a charming and delicately put together film.

Silver Linings Playbook - really good, but probably in the only watch once category if that makes sense.
