I think the the public and US critics 'got it' better than the critics on this side of the Atlantic. It is up there in the list of Oscar nominations (link) and in very good company...including 1917.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

For me, Tarantino's best film since Jackie Brown - I watched it and enjoyed, rather than watched it and admired, if you know what I mean?

It has a lot of Oscar nominations, but I think that Brandy should have got a best supporting actress nomination. I don't think I've ever seen anything so scary, magnificent and beautiful. Hmm, am I conflating 'actress' with 'bitch'?

Agreed, watched it here with Dutch subtitles :-)
It managed to subdue all but the most boorish middle-aged Dutchmen, who spent the whole film ridiculing the whole thing!

Well deserving of an Oscar or 2, expected a nomination for best Supporting Actor for the best portrayal of Hitler ever!

Turkish language film 'Mustang' (2015) is superb and still available on bbc iPlayer. It's about 5 orphaned sisters growing up in a concervative society. Very powerful with superb acting. Highly recommended.

French movie Hors Normes. In English The Specials. A new movie with Vinz Kassel. In art houses only I suppose.
This movie is made by the people who made Intouchable. An absolute must-see movie.

Search for The Specials on IMDB for the story,

    Menno

    The Fundamentals of Caring. Netflix.

in this inspiring buddy comedy, a young shut-in and his caregiver take a road trip in search of landmarks but end up finding hope and friendship.

    Great movie, check it out.

I've not long watched Lock Stock, Snatch.....um.....The Gentlemen.
Lets face it,with Guy Ritchie you know exactly what you are getting. Although it's hardly groundbreaking it is enjoyable. I personally thought both Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell were inspired castings and were superb characters. Charlie Hunnam couldn't act his was out of a soggy paper bag, and what accent was he supposed to have. It seemed at different times American,Irish, dodgy English (a la King Arthur) and on a couple of occasions seemed to be some random Tyneside effort. I can tell help think that he got the part 'cause he is mates with Guy Ritchie and for no other reason.

1917 - lived up to the hype.

Probably not as good as Dunkirk mind!

Leave No Trace. Superb performances from the two leads. Not an easy going film but a good story and strong characters. Highly recommend.

    Night Hunter

'NIGHT HUNTER' on Amazon Prime. (costs 0.99p)

A cross between Silence of the Lambs and Law Abiding Citizen, I think is the best way to describe it.

    Hugely enjoyable thriller.
