We watched Thirteen Lives last night.

I was skeptical that it would add anything to the documentary on Nat Geo, but I'm glad to say it did.

Even if you're seen the documentary (and we all know the outcome), well worth a watch as so many of Ron Howard's films are.

Viggo Mortensen, too, is especially good in his role as the taciturn English diver.

Will give this one a go I think, viggo mortensen gives a great performance in most roles. I haven't actually seen the documentary.

We liked 'Me Time' on Netflix. A bit chaotic but always find Kevin Hart funny.

Dunkirk. I think Nolan is a genius, and this is a 'war film' but possibly unlike 99% of the others. Not a typical Hollywood thing. Amazing cinematography, sound design and soundtrack.

Last night I rented "Everything, Everywhere, All At Once" which gets rave reviews and a huge score of 8.1 on IMDB.

The first review I had read stated that if the viewer pays attention and listens to the dialogue then they will 'get it', so I was completely focussed and even re-wound a few times to ensure I caught everything. Sadly I conclude that, contrary my previous belief I am a bit thick, as I found the film to be only mildly enjoyable and a bit bizarre.

Had this on my list to watch on Netflix and did so last night. Enjoyable and doesn't take the route you at first think it might.

Also watch Belfast on Friday night - great film.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the new Thor film available on Disney+ with no additional charges yesterday. Watched it and really enjoyed it - classic Marvel fare with plenty action and humour, and a great performance by Christian Bale.

I finally got to watch Tenet last night.

I'm a fan of Nolan's films generally, but wasn't that impressed with Inception.

I found Tenet more enjoyable and, while still heavy on the effects, to have a more coherent (as they ever are) storyline.

Worth a look if you like a complex thriller with some sci-fi elements.

I watched Prey (the Predator one) as well. It took a while to get going I thought (rather too keen to tick some PC boxes, as well), but picked up in the second hour and ended up as pretty fair Sci-Fi movie.

I enjoyed Miss Sloane on Amazon Prime. A political thriller with a strong performance by Jessica Chastain in the lead role.

Been on a Woody Allen kick lately having not watched any of his films for 20 years, some good ones like Matchpoint, Midnight in Paris, Vicky Christina Barcelona and Magic in the Moonlight. Incredible how he writes and films a new film just about every year now for 40 plus years.

    I watched Virtuoso on Netflix.

An interesting, tense film with a small cast, including a very old Anthony Hopkins.

Worth checking out if you like a tense thriller, not if you dislike voiceovers.

    Terrific film.

’Margin Call’ is on Amazon Prime at present. Similar subject matter, maybe even better than ‘The Big Short’. Less flashy and funny, but more thrilling.

    The greatest beer run ever.

On Apple TV. Worth watching. Based on a true story. (Including some nice watches). What's more: the real footage of US military and politician on the tv reminds me a lot of what's going on in Ukraine.

Also enjoyed Everything Everywhere, but it's very odd and likely not to everyone's taste.

Hustle on Netflix with Adam Sandler, a wonderfully acted sports (NBA) drama, some obvious plot points but handled in a way that doesn’t make them corny. A big father/son angle to it.

Forgot to post last week, but went to cinema to see Banshees of Inisherin. I've never seen a film so simultaneously hilarious and melancholy.

    I absolutely loved it.

The performances from Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan were nothing short of extraordinary. The scenery was beautiful and the cinematography matched up to it, with some incredible shots. The dialogue is acidic at times, rich in warmth at others, but never anything short of gripping.

I'm really looking forward to watching this again. It's one of those that is worth going to see 'cold' if you have enjoyed McDonaghs previous work (In Bruges, Three Billboards).

    Absolutely brilliant film!
