Persian Lessons was a very good film. Not sure how much of it was true and how much artistic incense but regardless a top film.

I'm looking forward to watching Scarlett Johanssen in "Black Widow," despite average critic reviews.

I found it to be surprisingly avaerage. I can't imagine watching it again. JK Simmons was the best thing in it, it and wasn't in it very much.

It's pretty good, I enjoyed it although nothing we haven't seen before. 'Newcomer' Florence Pugh playing the sister really stole the show.

I thought it was surprisingly bad, given the trailers, which made it sound interesting.

I had to wait till the end of the film to get the one decent line of dialogue in it. Plus, it could have been an hour shorter.

Cruella i quite liked, it was different than i though but then i dont watch spoilers and trailers like many do

I watched it the other day and I forgot to name it in the thread opposite of this one. That’s where Tomorrow’s War should be, (imho).

Agree with The Tomorrow War, good idea terrible execution. Also surprising bad acting from Chris Pratt who I normally quite like.

Tomorrow War was decent enough Friday night fare I thought.

Watched Palmer this week on ATV+ Thought it was pretty good. Timberlake puts in a good performance and the little kid is scarily good

So was I...Watched it last night, disappointing. Seemed at times like a parody of the films that came before and I'm generally favourably disposed to all things Marvel and Johanssen.

  13. #6663
We watched 'Together' on the BBC Iplayer, starring James McAvoy and Sharon Horgan.

Not someting I thought I would enjoy, but I found it witty, funny and emotional. Down to a good script and some very good acting, if you buy into its format then it is a good watch.

I am excited about seeing The African Queen on the big screen at my local cinema tomorrow night. It has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Love this film. Rating on IMDB was ok, but reviews were excellent.
Hard to say why, but it all works. Great fun.

Watched "The Burnt Orange Heresy" last night. Great plot, acting, scenery etc. Plus Mick Jagger and Donald Sutherland both hamming it up and looking like they had a whale of a time filming it were a treat. We loved it.

I watched 'Blood Diamond' again last night. I'd forgotten just how visceral it was.

We watched these - Watchable, but not outstanding, I'd say.

We watched "Cold Pursuit" last night with Liam Neeson on a Taken-like revenge spree, at least that's how the blurb reads, but in fact it felt far more like a Fargo spin-off. Not sure if I thought it was good or not, but certainly different.

The night before we watched "Seraphim Falls" an easier Neeson film to get on with. He is pursuing Pierce Brosnan for reasons that become increasingly clear as the film progresses. It's an enjoyable wilderness chase film (set post US civil war), but gets decidedly weird at the end.

    Escape to Sonoita

Not a full length movie, but enjoyed it greatly. Burt Reynolds, Murray Hamilton and Harry Dean Stanton.

Simple sets and storytelling, good characters and performances, and a satisfying twist. 25 minutes well spent.

Went to see ' the suicide squad', utter rubbish, loved the first one, love all the marvel movies but it was just too violent, I know it is meant to be comic books but it was just not required, Margot Robbie was yet again the best thing in it

Watched "Willie's Wonderland" starring Nicholas Cage.
After many disappointments, this was a good return to form for him. Not much of a storyline, but good popcorn fun.

Planning to see Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy in the next week.

    Wow...

I watched The Dry yesterday on whatever channel it's on.
Very good flick, and good to see Eric Bana getting back into a good old fair dinkum Aussie role and film.

    Well worth a watch.

Agree this attempt at a reboot was even worse than the first outing.

Official Secrets - Kiera Knightley plays the woman who leaked a memo from GCHQ which revealed the Americans were trying to blackmail UN Security Council members into voting for military action against Iraq.

Wherever you stand on the rights and wrongs of the case, and the result was illuminating, I think, it's a good film, not a thriller, but the pace is retained, Knightley impressively looks quite ordinary (she's never going to look plain, but my wife commented on how different she looked in this film) and underplays the role nicely.

Lots of good performances by other British actors (Matt Smith and Ralph Fiennes, especially), too.

    Worth finding on Netflix.

Ralph Fiennes is one of the greatest actors ever. He's always fantastic whatever role he's playing.

My youngest son and I went to see Suicide Squad, realizing what we were going to get back. As such, it was pretty entertaining...both glad we went. It's always best to go in with low expectations.

Fast/furious presents Hobbs and Shaw (Netflix) Dwayne Johnson/Jason Statham and Idris Elba
I loved it, some proper laugh out loud exchanges and the usual chases explosions etc.

Also enjoyed the tomorrow war but Yvonne Strahovski helped and I like alien films anyway.

Went to see Free Guy with the family…..I thought it was very watchable with some nice in jokes, plus Jodie Comer which is a big plus!

I also watched The Tomorrow War on Amazon the other day. I thought it was pretty uninspired and Chris Pratt seemed about as charismatic as a beach ball;several light years away from his screen presence when playing Star Lord.

Just finished watching The Sparks Brothers

Superb film, both the Mrs and I watched it right up past the end credits to the very end.

    Thoroughly enjoyable

Watched ‘Boy’ last night written and directed by Taika Waititi, set in NZ with the lead character a 11 year old Maori who’s massive Micheal Jackson fan.

I felt it was very Wes Anderson like, a great way to while away a hour and a half.

I didn't know until I'd watched it that Tony Lip's son, Nick Vallelonga, was one of the writers & played the role of Augie. There's several other Vallelongas in the cast.
