Is it from the Diane Abbott school of political thinking?
ie, is he the victim and it shows how horrid the West is?
    I suspect it'd annoy me.

My guilty pleasure at the moment, I think Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell are excellent in it, and I generally like the style of a Guy Ritchie movie..... almost a UK mockney version of the Ocean movies (11, 12 and 13, not the original or 8....)

Not out until the 21st May but a mindless zombie crime caper, with zombie tigers, what’s not to like.

I don't usually watch comedy movies but Thunder Force on Netflix was quite funny.
    Certainly worth a watch.

    Watched this last night.
Its decent enough, but it really does need to be edited to make it shorter and maintain some sort of pace. One of the slowest movies I have seen for a while, and I am not a 'fast-paced/guns and explosions' kinda bloke, but even so...

The Night of the Generals (thanks to SimonK for the DVD). Excellent war time murder mystery.
The Third Man a classic I somehow managed to ignore. I took me a little while to get into to it but then I was hooked. The acting is fantastic, cinematography is creative, and the score is excellent. On iPlayer currently.

We watched this and enjoyed it, but there were a few moments where I thought things got a little weird with his feelings towards the octopus . Will leave that one there for your minds to wander....

Stumbled upon the trailer for it this morning, thought it looked pretty good. Might be a hard sell to the missus but I’m gonna give it a go

It's absolutely daft, like a middle aged John Wick (probably younger than Keanu tbf).

Good watch though. Very violent, but always with an undercurrent of humour.

Agreed, just finished watching this. Engaging performances throughout, especially from Ruben (Riz Ahmed) and Joe (Paul Eaci), which built to a fantastic final scene.

While on the topic of drumming, the film Whiplash is well worth a watch.

I'm going to assume 'The Man In The Hat' is already recommended. I thought it was brilliant.
I couldn't understand why a French filmmaker would cast Ciaran Hinds and some other English actors in a French film and then I saw the credits.
    It was excellent.

  28. #6528
Run (on either Amazon or Netflix - can't remember) was pretty good.

    The Courier.

Benedict cumberland plays a british businessman dragged into the Cuban missile crisis. True story.

it was a bit dour in parts but not a bad watch.

Two 'worth a watch's this weekend. Firstly 'Stowaway' on Netflix which managed to be a slow burn as well as being gripping throughout. Added bonus of a Speedy Ultraman on one of the character's wrists.

Secondly, 'Sound Of Metal' on Prime. Surprisingly dark character study drama. Not perfect but very enjoyable and heartbreaking at points.

Thanks for recommending - thoroughly enjoyed it last night. And it gets extra points for using The Brazilian by Genesis in one of the scenes!

I watched Nobody earlier without reading the posts on here and without seeing the trailer.
I enjoyed it and for me it is better than John Wick which I thought was a little too far fetched.

The trailer for 'Nobody' makes me think it is very similar to 'The Accountant' with Ben Affleck, rather than John Wick. Is this the case?

Godzilla vs. Kong, 2 hours of brainless CGIs, but really enjoyed it :)

I thought it was pretty good too.

I'd go further and say it is excellent. Empire Magazine gave it 5stars! (But I think most critics suffer intra-anal-disappearance-syndrome)

I'm a massive fan of Groundhog Day, and as such this could only disappoint, but it's totally fresh and brilliant. Such great acting by Andy Samberg, proving the best comedy actors can really only show their skills fully when doing a straight-ish role. The story is hilarious and tormenting and it will be one I'll watch again.
    I'd give it 5stars too.

    Prime Video only.
