Stumbled upon a film called 'the wedding guest' with Dev Patel - worth a watch.
I'm so used to getting disappointed by a film that when one turns up that I actually enjoy I start using words like 'superb' when arguably 'good film' would suffice. Will check out 'The Wedding Guest'. Saw 'We Own The Night' over the weekend (available on Prime now). It was a good film and worth a watch.

We watched Orphans on Friday evening (it’s currently available on IPlayer). Unquestionably dated and of its time but a really enjoyable watch all the same.

I wish I could say I enjoyed Dunkirk even half as much (Sunday’s viewing) All very nicely shot but didn’t find it very coherent at all. Not sure it was worth the effort and certainly not up to all the hype from a couple of years ago.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Watched One Night in Miami (on Amazon) last night

I really enjoyed it albeit my missus thought it was a little slow

Great acting. You won’t believe that the guy playing Malcolm X is a Londoner

I watched The Hill (the Sean Connery in a military prison one), which I recorded on a terrestrial channel recently.

Another film that's of its time, especially in its depiction of racism. Beautifully shot, and very claustrophic.

It's a good film and I'm glad I watched it, but I can't say I particularly enjoyed it.

I just finished watching Leave No Trace which is free on Amazon Prime at the moment. It's the story of a father and his teenage daughter who are living wild in the woods of Oregon. The reason they are doing this is gradually although not fully revealed throughout the film. It's understated, nicely shot, and very moving at the end.

For those of you with Netflix, we’ve just watched easily the very best film we’ve seen for years, if not decades - The Dig.

Stunning cinematography and Oscar worthy performances, in this film based on a true story. Much recommended, it’s an utter delight!

Is this the one about Sutton Hoo? I remember learning about this in school.
Got it on my list to watch.

I watched Pascali's Island last night. Included with Prime. A good rather than a great film, maybe a bit too stately for its own good. The performance by Ben Kingsley, Charles Dance and Helen Mirren are all excellent.

Watched Vox Lux the other night and I’m not sure about it.

It’s a window into the the world of modern pop stardom with obvious hints to Lady GaGa and Madonna with a backdrop of teenage America school mass shooting so it’s not a happy go lucky romp but despite seeming a touch long it was an interesting window in the world of modern recording artists.

I watched a classic that has the complexity and unorthodox direction of many 1940s/1950s films and you're not likely to forget it in a hurry - 'Black Narcissus' from 1947.

Brilliant acting by Deborah Kerr and especially Kathleen Byron who plays the volatile nun driven to madness.

There's also an 18 year old English rose who would go on to be one of Hollywood's most famous actresses of her generation - she didn't have any lines in this film and was under a ton of makeup to pass her off as Indian.

The remake with Daniel Craig - I've watched and enjoyed both, but the English one was a little less effort as I don't have to read the subtitles at all times :P

Tried but I’m clearly too immature for such a film. Wife and I got 30mins into it & were bored beyond belief .

Greenland was a lot better than I anticipated, although a bit of 'suspend disbelief' required.

Going through some classics while on Zwift. Last week it was 'A Few Good Men' and 'Zero Dark 30'. This week it's 'The Bourne Ultimatum'.

I need to find a series instead. Would be easier and less faffing.

He's one of my all-time favourites, ridiculously talented.

He wrote and directed Journeymen, as well as starring!

I also watched News of the world, and also enjoyed it.

The Homesman with Tommy Lee Jones and Hilary Swank is a similar, if slightly grittier and less feel good Western. It's free on Prime at the moment.

Bit of a romcom the Mrs had on last night is the intern with Robert De Nero it was actually ok not my type of film but it was certainly watchable and kept the harmony to allow me to watch the boxing afterwards.

I must confess I enjoyed Baywatch (extended cut) free on Prime after slightly too many glasses of wine. I’m not sure I’d attempt it sober, but given the right state of mind it was a guilty pleasure.

Some Voices - amazon prime - Daniel Craig plays a schizophrenic.

The film shows some good insights to the mental health issue and the depth of brotherly love.

The soundtrack is good with squeeze and alabama3 among the well placed songs

I actually laughed a couple of times during the film
