Arctic on Prime is worth a watch

spiderman no way home - 8/10 , good film but not as good as the hype suggests - most unusual thing was toby maguires acting as he seemed to be channelling a serial killer /dexter as his character.

power of the dog - 2/10 -so mind numbing i turned it off half way through - didnt seem to have any major plot at all.

Same here, yet it's on lists of 2021's best films.

No time to die. 7/10, enjoyable and entertaining but no classic.

Matrix Resurrection 8 out of 10 just bearable when you get to see Trinity in a PVC suit again.

I mentioned it in another thread, but ‘Don’t look up’ on Netflix is outstanding, great cast, and a great observation on what’s wrong with society today.
    Cheers..

Office Christmas Party. Exactly what you’d expect but decent enough to pass the time at home.

    Point break, true classic.

    MOON DOGS

2016 indy with an unknown (to me) cast of three youngsters on a roadtrip from Shetland to Glasgow; beautifully acted and funny/sad, plus great music.

    Amazon Prime.

We watched that on Saturday (no, not the best Christmas film). My wife didn't really get it and I sort of wish I didn't too, it is slightly unnerving because that is probably how it will go if something like that happened today. I did enjoy it, I found a strong hint of Dr. Strangelove in some of the madness of the politicians in it.

I’m glad you enjoyed it, and I agree, it’s uncomfortable viewing, and sadly plausible.

Turned it off. Had high hopes with the cast, but it was just annoying / frustrating. I get that was the point, but it wasn't for me.
I have the same issue with films like National Lampoons, where things just keep going wrong.

I thought Don't Look Up was OK, but somehow less than the sum of it's parts.

Ron Perlman was criminally underused and given woeful lines, and I'm getting a bit bored of Mark Rylance doing highly mannered performances of rejected characters from the Fast Show.

The visual similarity between his character and many of Paul Whithouse's Fast Show characters kept playing on my mind too. I was always half expecting a punchline. But none were delivered.

The plot was too close to the bone for comfortable viewing but sometimes we all need to be taken out of our comfort zones.

Only watched this yesterday. What a sharp masterpiece.

I am thoroughly impressed, so many real-life figures of US society who are featuring, but obviously they won't get it. The whole movie is packed with small scenes that are hitting the nail right on its head.

6/10 for the interesting idea and main actor but it really does fall apart in the last half hour or so

The James Bond movie, No Time to Die, was great!! I think a very fitting end to Daniel Craig’s incredible run as James Bond.

Rewatched Glengarry Glen Ross for the umpteenth time over Christmas.

We’ll never see a grown-up film as good as that again. The studios don’t have it in them and no equivalent cast could ever be assembled.

Not one to watch with the kids though!

I found it visually exciting and great if you just go along for the "ride." Understanding all the characters and the (convoluted?) subplots was way too much for me.

Mrs PC and I saw Nightmare Alley yesterday. Excellent cast and acting, but the story was very dark and unsatisfying.

As understatements go id say thats on oar for winner of the year :D

Did you like the first SS movie? I quite enjoyed it, despite Leto hamming it all the way to getting fired for being an idiot off camera.

I highly recommend Red Notice on Netwflix.

Its daft action movie with Ryan Reynolds and the Rock, also Gal Gadot whos easy on the eye if repulsive on the politics IRL.

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar. Didn't expect to like this but think buddy roadtrip meets James Bond meets Mamma Mia, throw in plenty of kitsch film sets and you have an unexpected feel-good film which doesn't over-extend its welcome.

Caught up with a few (late to the game) over Christmas. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Captain Phillips, Wolf of Wall Street, The Big Short, Zero Dark Thirty. All great but the newer one we watches which I really recommend is Don’t Look Up.

Over the last few days we’ve watched both Ava and The Protégé, don’t despite some big names attached they are dire, I can only assume some big tax bills had been recently received.

Watched King Richard the other night. Really interesting to see where the Williams sisters can from and the influence the dad had on them. Will Smith was good as well. Well worth a look.

For those that can get it ‘1883’ , the prequel to Yellowstone is absolutely fantastic!
