Thread: A new beater

    A new beater

I must admit I really brought this out of curiosity as it is always having it's praises sang by the WIS community and because the price was so very tempting!

Now after handling one, I can safely say I am very impressed with the build quality, weight, the bezel movement alone is excellent. Really stands up to watches costing many times more. So it doesn't have a sapphire crystal or a hacking movement, it is still amazing value even at it's RRP even better second hand  It is ideal as a beater and deserves to be in any watch collection. :D

I haven't been brave enough to faff around adjusting the bracelet so I have put it on my spare Bremont MB II nylon strap with orange stitching. I think they go well together, what do you think?

    A new beater

I have a Seiko Sports 5 as my daily beater and every time I put it on I think exactly the same in terms of feel, quality etc. it belies the sub £100 price tag.

I'm really going to struggle to not buy one of these at that price. Was going to go with a Steinhart for a daily beater but these seem so rugged whilst still looking good.

This always looks better on other's wrist...probably discontinued and replaced by new models...that I like the black bezel more

Great combination. I have often thought about trying a Monster but haven't got round to it yet.

Another here on the list of ditherers!

Put off perhaps by the fact I didn't find the wrist presence of my previous SKX011J quite right for me, mostly due to the bulbous case back. This might be a different kettle of fish of course and despite being quite a lump I think they are a pretty fine looking lump, though perhaps I'd fancy a longer hour hand.

The stock bracelet is supposed to be one of Seiko's far better efforts if I've read correctly.
