The "can't authenticate it" reasons just keep on getting better. At least it wasn't passed down from his great grandfather etc. eBay definitely has a scary side.

... it could be worth more though without the documentation I'm willing to accept considerably less.
Sounds like a bargain to me. Better be quick.

I have shoe boxes full of watches and bracelets/straps etc., so maybe he is telling the truth

I wonder which jeweller he asked? A blind one maybe?
It's just a matter of time...

I think he should take it on Antiques roadshow with it being up to 300 years old it might even pre-date Harrison's chronometers!

I'm glad TAG decided to get rid of the silly exhibition case back on this version, why would you want to look at the movement anyway, and the imbalance between case and strap width is especially nice, really makes it stand out as something really

    NASTY

you could have the Citizen rip off of this design they sell in argos for much less

or hang around some motorway services I'm sure these "prototypes" are still available......

it's usually the guy in the rather tired looking BM or Merc with a shiny suit doing a stock clearance you're looking to avoid

Of course the thing to do would be to ask for the contact info of the "local jeweler", so you could discuss his findings. That would smoke out the real story.

LOL - better price than 9499 Rupiah (= £110) with proof of authenticity. Now that sounds like serious business. Can I have one lot, please?
