Since I like watches I take some nice ones with me when I go on holiday. Can’t understand people who leave them in the safe.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I have no safe, I travel extensively all over the world - some places are better than others.

Easy option is to travel 'light'.

It depends on the holiday. If I'm diving it's two (X + a Citizen dive watch); if not it's just one (X). X is quite frequently a Breitling Aerospace Avantage.

When this thread started, I didn't have my preferred holiday watch. What else but an Explorer.

I typically take just one. My orange Seamaster Planet Ocean on black rubber as it ticks all the boxes.

Although I do like the idea of proper holiday beater...The g-shocks are the obvious choice however I'm quite drawn to the Orange Cressi Nereus.

Just the one, on the wrist at all times.

Taking a bunch of expensive watches and leaving them in a pathetic hotel safe is monumentally stupid.

Usually decent hotels in the U.K. have a proper safe which they will allow customers to use for expensive items. If we are abroad then we would probably be on a river cruise ship and never heard of problems on them.
Of course if your thing is .......‘Being herded into countless Hotel Miramars and Bellevues, Bontinentals with their international luxury modern roomettes......and swimming pools full of draft Red Barrel .......’ then things might be riskier 😂😂😂

Anywhere where "Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup, the first item on the menu of International Cuisine," is best avoided.

And no signing of "Torremolinos" please.

Still one of my favourite sketches.

Me too. Although I still went to places in the 80's which were suspiciously similar!

    None

Have stopped taking them recently. My daily wearer is now a smart watch and couldn't be bothered to bring the charger along.
Travelling with family means I'm the donkey so don't want to risk damaging any of my other watches.
Reading the thread I guess I could've taken my G-Shock especially with multiple changes in time zone.
Finally seeing my sister's BF's Pam GMT did make me miss having a nice piece on my wrist.

How many do you take on holiday?

I take 2; my Garmin Fenix 3 - for exotic Strava map gloating and my Steinhart Triton DLC. I can dive in it, it’s not blingy and it’s built like a tank - which is important as I’m inevitably the luggage mule too.
I’ve toyed with taking my Breitling Chrono Avenger M1 but just don’t want to risk attracting any attention to me or my family or losing one of my favourites. It would ruin the holiday for me and everyone else

How resilient is the DLC? How easy or difficult is it to scratch?

It’s not bulletproof; but it’s held up pretty well and the only very slight marks have been from me clanking my wrist against something very solid that definitely would have scratched steel. I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

Thanks, that’s good to know. I’ve wavered over PVD and DLC watches, because of a concern that scratches would spoil the look.

Considering this has been used as a dive watch and been scraped and bashed against all manner of kit I think it’s held up ok. The anodised finished around the helium escape valve less so...

I always take a G for running and wearing to the beach, and then my default seems to be my Sea-Dweller and PAM 512. That seems to be the perfect trio for me, although variations on the theme would work just as well.

Usually I’d have 2-4, but for the first time in many years I only took one watch - but this one is so versatile I’ve hardly missed having other options!

    Usually 1.

I might take something for diving and something a bit smarter for general wear, but that's unusual.

Just got back from a week in Gozo. Took my Fenix 5 for trail runs, splashing in the sea with the kids and exploring some of the cliffs/hills. Wore my Speedmaster of an evening.

Back from a cruise in the Med and Adriatic this week, and I took : a Seiko solar PADI diver, a yellow Timex digital, an £8 'Infantry' quartz, an analogue Casio (cost £7) and a digital Casio that I bought because it reminded me of a Seiko LCD watch I lusted after years ago. That one cost £10 in an Amazon sale.

Opened the case to find the Timex dead, maybe something was pressed up against the light button in there during transit. But it didn't matter very much.

Just the one for me. Last year I wore a Speedbird PRS22, but I sold that earlier this year. This year the Everest PRS-25 with it's adjustable clasp was excellent.
