    Hello Michael,

I asume that "the other crowd" refers to another mil-watch forum (which had been mentioned repeatedly in the run-up discussion to this one) and not to the main TZ-UK-forum - the latter is quite important because there are some questions/info that do not belong on BTW but in the main forum.

Having said that, my "have"-list is limited as I do not have much time or money on my hand, therefore I focus on current issue watches and their close replicas: The Marathon Navigator-G (a current issue watch, alas without the date function), the Traser P 6500 (a replica/re-issue of the SandY P 650; mine has a date function which I need for daily life) and I am looking hard at a G10 version, but am currently confused about the different versions. I want either the genuine current issue one, but before I decide I want to look at what Eddie has in the making in the PRS-series. Like the Speedbird-design, the G10 is a generic MoD design, and I want a reliable G10-type more than an issue watch that breaks down on me (the stories about the Pulsar).

To me, serviceability and replaceability are important, hence I tend so stay on the cheap side of the range. I am not so much a collector as a user who enjoys those qualities combined with a heritage design. But I admire those who can say "if you like the look of a Rolex, buy a Rolex and not a replica." My bank disagrees, though

    Best regards,

    Crusader
    Cheers,

I have a liking for military inspired watches. All the style and impact, but with higher specifications and lower cost. Having said that, I really like the SM 300, the original Longines Czech Air Force also appeals.

My wife just surprised me with a Glycine Luftwaffe, which I am reliably informed was a limited production run for the German market only (and worth at least twice what she paid for it - which was nice). The main site has an "Observer" watch which is very similar - I haven't had a chance to do any pics yet.

    For mil style I have

a Russian Paratrooper watch that I traded a pair of my jump wings for while in Kosovo. I also have a SandY 55595. 490/590 case with previous dial and hands, not the tubes.

Would love an SM300 or 5513 Sub. Wouldn't turn away a Mark XI either. :D

Thanks for reminding me of the MILSPEC I, Type-6. Really want one of those. Been trying to talk Eddie into doing a homage of the MILSPEC I or LIP. :D

I added a Hamilton GG-W-113 to my collection last week. As I cannot yet post pictures, here are links to a few GG-W-113 sites:

    http://www.mochanni.com/~hseung/album/mwr/gg-w-113.html
    http://www.antiquevintagewatches.com/mi ... l#postwwii

The GG-W-113 was the mil-spec for (hacking) USAF navigator watches, before it merged (in or after 1986, I believe) with the joint MIL-W-46374 standard. The resulting MIL-W-46374 D Type 1, a 17-jewel hacking watch also made by Hamilton, is largely identical with the GG-W-113, whereas the MIL-W-46374 D Type 2 (e.g. a Sandy 184a with a one-jewel non-hacking movement) continues the tradition of lower-quality disposable watches. For the history of the mil-specs, see

Top of my wants list is a Czech Air Force WW2 Longines ... I have bid for a couple on Ebay in recent weeks but was unsuccessful . There is one for sale in Westgate Arcade in Peterborough but it is priced at £975 which is well over double the price ... maybe treble ... of that achieved on Ebay ... the watch has been there for months and if it ever sells at that price I will be astounded. Another watch I just "maybe one day if my premium bonds come up " about is a Lange and Sohne WW2 Luftwaffe with the inner 12 hour ring ... there was one for sale on Swiss Watch Co website http://www.antiquewatches.co.uk some weeks back ... there might still be a photo there . I also have a liking for Cyma military watches ... there have been several available recently but I had other priorities eg Eddie's Speedbird 1903 ... my brother and I each bought one.

It could be me. I couldn't remember telling Ming what my surname was. Also I miscounted the stars in his spelling.

MrCrowley = Paul Dowling, prsumably unrelated (?) to James Dowling of Rolex fame.

What's so difficult about using an alias? Do you think Crusader is my last name? :P

Nothing wrong. Just an odd alias, the significance which I don't grasp. I know Crusader isn't your last or first name.

Interestingly, "Saladin" or "Saladino" are surnames with a long tradition in several Western languages, but I have yet to meet someone actually named Crusader.

It's not that big. You remember that photo of me outside my cave/shed/fort thingy thrown a man off the edge? That's actual size. Who says that I don;'t have a supersized Dalek?
