Off to Magic Summer Live (was Guilfest), Stoke Park, Guildford 13/14 July .. a plethora of bands (Bryan Adams, Jamiroquai, James Morrison, Joss Stone, Squeeze, Level 42, Soul II Soul, The Overtones and Kim Wilde), not all 'my thing', but just love live music & the weekend is (usually) a good one.

Paul Weller at Edinburgh Castle last night was good.

Probably not enough older stuff for my liking but it was a good gig all the same

Both great gigs - very hot though.

Had a chat with Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) on Wednesday - Nice bloke as well as being massively talented.

Woven Hand in a couple of weeks time.

I've seen them twice before and it's an intense experience.

Off to see Y&T tonight at The Robin in Bilston, last time I saw them was at Monsters of Rock, Castle Donington in 1984. Can't remember much about the gig, but remember AC/DC headlined. Released a couple of good albums "Earthshaker" and "Black Tiger."

You'll love 'em. Y&T are still putting on amazing shows. Dave Meneketti is one of the most amazing singer / guitarists I've ever seen. And I've seen a few.
Have been to every tour since they started coming back over here a few years back. Looking forward to Rock City on Friday...

The Prodigy in Manchester on 20th December. Hopefully they'll change their set list quite a bit.

Fleetwood mac this Sunday and then deep purple are next up for me.

Just picked up tickets to the Charlatans charity do at the royal Albert hall in October, which should be brilliant, and to Dodgy in November at the jazz cafe. Looking forward to those.

Fleetwood Mac on Tuesday for me. I've paid for a meet and greet with Mick too. I wish I'd been at the O2 last night to see Christine play with them again.

It was a really great concert. Surprisingly, it wasn't a full house. I suspect that it is because the 6th is considered Mahler's most depressing work.

In any case, my wife generally doesn't like Mahler, and wasn't even sure that she liked the music at this concert. Still, she thought it the most powerful musical experience she's had. Although I would put The Ring at the top, this certainly was very high on my list.

They are doing this concert in Edinburgh tomorrow. If you are close to Edinburgh, and have any time at all for Mahler, I would suggest that you try to get tickets.

    Best wishes,
    Bob

PS The Mozart was also very good, and the soloist, Henning Kraggerud, a marvel.

Went to Halestorm, Shinedown and Alterbridge at Manchester Arena last night.

All were excellent, but Alterbridge were on another level. Just 4 guys playing their stuff. No backing musicians, no pyro and no swearing!! Just a simple gig with some top music. Mate said it was a privilege to watch them, pretty much summed it up.

Today Sunday Nick Caves special gig at Koko its not even listed, they have tried to eliminate the touts you get your ticket with ID on arrival.

This could be something special its being filmed so he will give it everything,he does anyway.
