Go on, how much?
Currently showing a 1942 Glashutte navigators watch, originally produced for the Luftwaffe.
And the estimate was...
Go on, how much?

And I learnt how to pronounce it :!:

£2k with wrong hands, no chrono hand and looking a bit sorry for itself.
It's just a matter of time...
One on Chrono24:
€3.8k though :)
But looks a lot lot better and has very different hands.
It's just a matter of time...
I was doing my paperwork in anoother room when my wife who is sat with AR on shouts " Quick there is a watch on"
very nice watch, one of our members here has one in his collection, in fantastic condition.
"KLA-SOOH-TAH"
Ya buggers, I video'd ARS whilst I was out at evensong and you've spoiled the plot...

Don't forget to add the German accent though while you pronounce it - just for the authenticity.

Your wife wears anti-reflective? Blimey, how do you find her?Originally Posted by pastrana72
I saw it too, I only turned on AR in the of chance I might see a watch! My luck was in as was my suggested value.
:D Nah just being to lazy to type Antiques Roadshow.Originally Posted by dickbrowne

You can see the resemblance of the old piece with the current Tutima chronographs.
If they really suggested "KLA-SOOH-TAH" as how to pronounce it, then I'm afraid you didn't learn how to pronounce it after all! The SOO bit in the middle is more or less right, but the G is still a G and the trick in the Glas- part is how to pronounce the a (hint, a bit like the UK 4 letter spelling slang for behind, where the US uses 3 - in fact, say "Glas" to rhyme with a**e and you're pretty close). The end is much more a TUH than a TAH. So GLARSE-HOO-TUH is much closer than the Antiques Roadshow's suggestion - but you'll know that if you've ever cringed at a TV antiques expert ever trying to pronounce WMF in full...
Saw it.
OK for nothing I suppose.
Cheers,
Neil.
I find some of the values on these shows a bit top heavy. Sometimes they will give a value which should only be used for insurance which can actually be double the what we call Auction value. It then ends up with people walking away thinking they have somthing thats highly valuable and then put it into auction where it struggles to make half the value on the show!
This link may help with pronounciation of watch names ...

I watched that on AR. Would there have been any issuing marks engraved on the back of the case?
As an aside, I find AR quite annoying, I'm fed up with these posh people turning up and acting all surprised when their heirlooms turn out to be worth thousands of pounds and then announcing that they won't be selling the goods as "they'll be staying in the family blah blah" - presumably so that everyone realises that they're filthy rich and don't need the small change. Much prefer "Flog It" where the owners are often hard up and the expert's valuations are put to the test. Rant over :)
But the condition of this one is an unknown, right? It's missing a hand and we don't know the condition of the movement (or if it even works correctly).
I saw that too, not my thing but impressive nonetheless.
These should have corresponding numbers on case back and movement. Luftwaffe requirement.Originally Posted by jools

Typical AR not to show the back of the watch. Oops I'm ranting again. :)Originally Posted by even neve
of course - but if pressed I would put my bet on Zaf when it comes to pricing military watches - usually they don't spend much time on his site....Originally Posted by WingTsun
So roughly the same price as today's version... quite honestly, I'm not sure I'd personally want to own an original with the associated history mentioned.
Surely originals are worth the most in Germany?
