I've seen the MoD specs for NATO straps

before, but don't know where they are anymore.

I've bought many NATOs from Eddie over the past couple of years. Every time I put one on, I'm amazed at the simplicity and confused as to why the US military never used them. I have one Stocker & Yale, and the strap is a one-piece, OD, nylon strap that's 16mm wide. While the watch is small and light weight, the strap is so thin that the watch twist all over the place.

I think the Waterborne and Rhino straps are the ultimate in NATO-type straps.

What improvements or changes do you guys think could/should be made to NATO straps?

Re: I've seen the MoD specs for NATO straps

    Hello Mindbender,

here are the links to the UK and US strap specs:
    MoD: http://www.dstan.mod.uk/data/66/047/00000200.pdf
    DoD: http://assist.daps.dla.mil/docimages/00 ... /25409.PD2

I have several so-called "beefy" US military straps in 20mm and 22mm which are extra long and made of a quite substantial thick fabric (in the Rhino class, actually). They wear extremely well, and complement a lighter watch as well as the Waterborne or Rhino are a perfect fit for a heavier watch.

The regular (non-beefy) straps are a totally different matter.

    Best regards,

Strange how experience can change you

I always thought I wouldn't like the look or feel of a NATO type strap on me but after seeing some on others and lots of comments got a grey one for an Omega Dynamic. I am really very impressed with the comfort and style. IMO it can set of a watch (certainly of this style) like no other (looks better than my crapppy pic shows too!).

There's no holding you back is there Gray, any excuse for the dynamic

Nice pic though, and nice watch, and it has to be said, nice strap too :D

I've currently got a Bond nato on my Nettuno 3, and I'll agree with the comfort and style testimonies :)

    U.S. Straps and such

I have Natos and U.S. military straps. I merit both categories with certain advantages, but have found the U.S. Type III to be most durable. The Natos have a look like no other and are extremely comfortable, however. I guess it all depends on how much durablility you are seeking and and how much comfort, as well as whether you want metal parts on the band as on the Natos.

    Welcome to the forum...

    Nice screen name. Nice watches.

How do you like the Ball? I'd looked at those since they first popped up but never pulled the trigger on one.

    Hello Type-6 CBP,

do you - by any chance - have a picture of one of the watches on an OLIVE DRAB U.S. military strap? I have been thinking about a green strap lately, but I am not sure how it would look...

    Thanks and best regards,
