This is sapphire tho there is an option to buy with an acrylic vs sapphire insert.
Didn't realise how close in design the Helson was to the original. I think I'll have to treat myself.
Wow. The Helson is almost a dead ringer for the vintage PP. Damn, I didn't realize that. Thank you for posting - makes me want a vintage PP even more! How can I save faster!?!?!
Thanks for posting this .
The Helson looks amazing .
A friend of mine is looking at one of the Omegas but this may change his mind and save him thousands !!
How do the movements compare though??

I love the ploprof, but I don't think I'd ever be able to wear one. They are just so massive.
Very interesting & tempting............any comment on quality etc?
So how does the winding-crown cover (that metal square) work on the original and on the Helson?
Ploprof has the 1002 where as the other two are ETA 2824.Originally Posted by leechaz

Some info on the crown mechanism from the deskdivers.com
Secondly, the innovative crown locking mechanism. The crown itself, which on first observation would appear to be the familiar looking splined cylinder, acrylic is actually the square end plate. The splined cylinder in reality is a crown locking nut. The square crown is screwed in/out using the splined nut (the splines aiding grip) which remains where it is located in the case. The linear movement of the crown mechanism compresses the crown seals directly without the distortion and wear created when using the more usual twisting motion of a conventional crown, forming a long lived seal. The crown when screwed in also forms a flush fit with the case, effectively protecting the watch against impacts or snagging. The Ploprof might well have the most effectively designed and engineered crown protection and seal system ever built.

Excellent series of comparative pictures.
I wonder maybe whether Helson with their Sharkmaster have taken homage to the PloProf just a little too far for Omegas comfort.
Is that a release valve on the caseback?
Thanks...Originally Posted by RAJEN
