Welcome aboard Greg, you have two cracking watches there for sure 8)
Love the IWC - I'm a fan of fliegers/aviation watches, also the Speedy is on my WTB list.
Hello there
I've been a long, long time lurker of this forum and I finally got around to registering myself. I have learnt so much and enjoyed the banter that goes on so I thought I'd try to join in.
I've been interested in watches since I was a child and had my first hand wound Timex. This was followed by the usual Casio (any child growing up in the 80s will know what I mean!) before graduating to the wonderful Swatch world. I had (and indeed still do) have many of the plastic wonders.
For my 21st birthday I was very fortunate to receive a Tag Heuer 2000 series quartz model which was my standard watch for many, many years, and which I still wear. After I started working I wanted to get an automatic watch and fell in lust with an IWC flieger which I bought in 2007. As posts are never complete without pictures, here she is:
After that I really wanted a Speedy Pro, largely I'll admit because of the space connection, but it's such a wonderful watch, that it stands on its own. So in 2010 I finally managed to save up the cash to buy one. Here she is:
I've also become a huge fan of Rich's straps (Toshi) because of this forum, his work is wonderful and I now have two of his straps for my IWC and one for my Speedy Pro.
Anyway, I hope I've made a half decent stab at an introduction!
Cheers
Greg

Welcome. A lovely pair of classic chronos.
Hi and welcome from another recent entrant
Welcome aboard, two cracking watches. I too got myself a TH2000 for my 21st, and had the mandatory Casios in the 80's. I had one that you could play a golf game on it.. I'm sure I also has a racing game version too! Happy days :)
A very nice pair, the IWC is lovely, as is the Speedie.
I've just recently picked up a Speedie MKii which I'm in having re-finished.
Welcome!
Hey Greg,
Hello from another Dub. Welcome to the forum. Two crackers of watches there. You will have a great time here. Great members and great watches. Hide your wallet or be prepared to be broke
Thank you all for the cracking welcome, and thanks for the kind words about my small collection! Though I'm sure my wallet will take a hit after being here a while!
Welcome to TZ!
Two great watches... the speedy is always a classic.
really liking that IWC. Is it the OEM strap or aftermarket?
Nice watches and a heartly welcome!
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.
welcome aboard, love the watches :)
No, that's a cocoa strap from Toshi. It's a great strap, really soft, and has gone a lovely dark shade now after a year of use!Originally Posted by Stu
Hello and welcome to the forum - great watches you chose for starters :) Great taste ...
Hello and welcome:-) nice watches there. Always have liked the iwc:-)
Welcome aboard :)
Thanks again for the welcome! Until I had started frequenting these pages I never realised quite how many had a similar interest to myself, or how varied that interest was. It's great to see so many different models, straps etc. It has certainly already opened my eyes to other producers I had never heard of like Sinn or Stowa for example.
Welcome............ from one newbie to another!
They're two fantastic watches to start your collection with!
Classic case of watch envy here!
