I quite like these engraved watches that turn up from time to time in threads. I wouldn't buy one or have it done to a watch I own, but perversely I enjoy looking at them :|

I would have gone for a more modern engraving on the front.
But looks nice and special!

!!!
I have seen some great engraving and there have been some fantastic casebacks shown on here and one of them was an ExplorerII - that is awful - "re-cut the numbers" hmm - not very well imo!
It's just a matter of time...
That's just plain awful.

The engraving looks amazing and is obviously a very skilled and time consuming job. However, it just doesn't look good on watches, it cheapens the whole look imo.
Some engraving looks great - but I'm not a fan of that work.Originally Posted by mutanthands

I'm not convinced, but it's all down to personal taste. :)
Owww....not my cup of tea I am afraid
ruined a rolex in my opinion
The watch has just lost half of its value with that cheesy engraving
And reduced the potential market...Originally Posted by clockwatcher

I took the time to translate my comment into braille, so the chap could fully understand my view on his efforts.
That guy has got some confidence doing something like that.
seems like a perfect way to ruin a nice watch.
It probably cost the owner a lot of money to devalue their watch that much.
Yep, that got a laugh out loud!Originally Posted by Jon Kenney

Must say its not my cup of tea. Though I did like the Purdey Panerai that was made a few years ago.
thats made me cry!! poor EPII
For example this is fantastic and I'd like something similar done to one of mine.

Superb effort imo.
It's better than the first one - but some elements look too "homegrown" for my liking.Originally Posted by ~dadam02~

I'm still waiting to see a really nice visible engraving of the case.Originally Posted by Omegamanic

I think its a cool idea if whoever likes it, I don't. But I don't like tattoos either, maybe for a tattooed arm this would be the watch to wear :D
Personally, I'd do it on a pocket watch, or on a knife. In this particular case, I could understand it if the guy is a hunter. I have seen beautifully engraved rifles, in that particular circle maybe an engraved watch could also pass.
That is how I see it too.Originally Posted by WingTsun

The only nice examples of watch engraving I think are the limited Magrette series.
Yes, but they are original to the watch and remind me of Maori tattoos.Originally Posted by XXoF
