Been thinking the same thing for my best man, hes a builder, so was thinking seiko monster
Depends what your mate likes and does for a living?

I'm getting married in a few weeks and was planning to buy my best man a pair of cufflinks, but have recently been contemplating buying him a watch instead.
He likes watches but it's not something he'd spend a significant amount of money on himself right now. Equally, he has only a 'normal' knowledge of watches so the lesser known makes would mean little to him.
Does you have any recommendations for something up to around £200 (I'm assuming pre-owned)? Style is not particularly important...

How about an automatic Tissot or Hamilton?
For the budget it has to be the Smiths Everest.
Congrats on the upcoming Wedding! :)
I would seriously consider the Everest too, IMHO simply the best £200ish watch out there. As a gift from you, it would mean even more and I'm sure the 'lesser known make' wouldn't be an issue.
Alternatively, you could kill two birds with one stone... I was best man for my mate last year, (more nervous than when I got married  ), my mate knew I was into watches and bought me the cuff links at the back left in this pic, real quartz movements, keep great time! I love them and think of the wedding, ( and that speech ) every time I wear them.
Best of luck.

I got my Best Man a Steinhart Vintage Red. He loves it :thumbright:
Thanks for the quick responses. :)
He works in IT - anything to do with building and he'd get a bloke in. However, I'm still open to different style suggestions.
Some good ones so far. 'Lesser known brands' are not really a concern... particularly a brand like Smiths which has an interesting history behind it and a rather nice 'Great Britain' on the dial.
Keep 'em coming...
Tissot Tradition, if quartz is OK. Maybe slightly big for this style at 42mm, but nice and slim at 7.5mm. £195.
The PRC200 chrono is nice, but that takes us up to £270, and the Tradition chrono takes us up to £285.
Otherwise, Everest.
Another vote for the Everest from me.
I got one this week as a present for my brother but I need to find him something else now, as I'm keeping it for myself it's that good!

Smiths Everest - Perfect Shout
RIAC
+(another)1 for the Everest, it is IMHO quite simply the best circa£200 watch out there.
Good luck for the Big Day.

I have been a best man 6 times in my life !!!!!!
I enjoyed the experience 5 out of the 6 times .
Can you guess how many gifts i received in total for being best man - yep you guessed it - ZERO !
Having just bought a Smiths Everest, I have to agree with the majority so far. It's a fantastic watch for the money.
One of the Casio GShack solar waveceptor thingies, so he'll definitely be on time?
I think the Everest particularly this year during jubilee and Olympic games gotta love the 'Great Britain' dial. Regards. Kev
Got to agree with the Everest - looks classic
How about a pocket watch with a personal inscription?
Great gesture mate like your style. 8)
PRS10?
Half your budget and will go on for years with little maintenance.
