1969 British Army issue - What watch ?

I really like the CWC W10 6BB as posted by RickChard : viewtopic.php?f=11&t=195645

When was the CWC first issued ? I'd like a birth year of 1969.

Is this possible or was the issued watch in 1969 the Smiths W10 W10/6645-99-961-4045 ?

The Smiths would be the only one from '69. The CWC first appeared in 1976 I think, preceded by the Hamilton tonneau from 1973.

I see Smiths go for between 250 and 400 squids on ebay. Apart from the externals, a good'un should have the internal dust cover and a hacking mechanism - a fragile thing that was often discarded during a service along the way.
