I was just talking about these the other day. Not so much the 60 but the old air cooled in general.
They are very trendy at the moment so I'm sure you have got a nice bike there.
It looks very tidy.
some of you will know that i came across an old r60/5 that was in a mate of a mates garage recently, it had only done 800 miles since 1982 (came with all mot's!) i decided to pick it up for a project while my shoulder is mending from surgery and i have to go back to work, anyway it needed a bit of work but i got a clymer manual with it and started work!!
i managed a carb rebuild with new jets/gaskets, new fuel lines, new points and condenser, all oils and filters inc fork oil , oh and a new seat lock!
apart from that , just a whole lot of cleaning, i am so pleased to have got her back on the road and have spent the last few days pottering around on her.
now i am thinking of looking out for another project!!!

Just lovely - we have a couple of R80/7's and one has been rebuilt - they are just great bikes and I still like the engines - well we have 3 R1200Gs's in the family too - so we quite like the layout too ;)
It's just a matter of time...
Very very nice!
I have always had a soft spot for the BMW horizontally opposed twin. It was the first Airfix model I ever built as a kid and I have owned two real ones since.
That looks to be a nice example. How are the brakes ?
Sweet!
Big ol' bike for a 600...
Great job.
I'm a v-twin man myself (Guzzi and Ducati) - but do like a nice a/c beemer.

My R100/7 says hello :-)
Love it!!
Well done, looks a really nice old Beemer.
I am looking for something similar to restore with my son.
Lovely! Love both old bmw bikes and cars.
Nice photos Mike
Anytime you feel up to a real challenge, you know where to come. My current project, which will only get completed in time for summer if it warms up a bit... :(

Nice job. A friend of mine has a beemer like that and loves it, apart from the brakes!
Very nice. Really an iconic bike. If only I had the space 8)

been looking for that elusive minty R80GS Basic for a while now!
Nicely done Mike - if I ever get around to selling this
It's the sort of thing I'll be looking for.
If my BSA ever gets finished, maybe I won't need any of that foreign stuff :)
Looks great seadog. I really like the look of these old school bikes.
I remember when I passed my test and was buzzing around on a Suzuki GT250 the R90S was the daddy.

Very nice job . As nice as the modern bikes are , I do think everything is over engineered these days.
