You could ask MADDOG as he has just had this one done

I know it can be done by yourself but being cack-handed and generally incompetent I'd like to get my Seiko capacitor replaced by someone reputable.
Anyone had any good, or bad, experiences? Google search throws up some information but scant few testimonials and one guy who seems to be charging the full price of the watch to do so...
thanks in advance
Tim

How come the above needed a capacitor replacement ? I thought that Seiko had the kinetics capacitor problem sorted out before the 5M62 calibre was brought in ?
There was a place in warrington that offered to either supply the parts or do it for you. I got the parts as it is in effect just like changing a battery. Will see if I can recall more specificsOriginally Posted by tiny73
pm sent to Tiny73.
These are the people I used - they supplied the parts so I can't vouch for their installation service

They did my bosses watch when it died. No issues he just sent it off and they returned it working  That was a couple of years ago and it's still going strong.Originally Posted by Cookie
Just as well as I was tasked with finding out if/how he could get it fixed at the time :?

I have also have a 5m62 that has needed a new capacitor, but it is realy easy to replace. No more difficult than replacing a battery.
Just bought one off eby, il let you know how it goes. :-)
Ive just ordered one off ebay. Il let you know how it goes. :-)
All kinetic capacitors need replacing eventually, after say 8,9, 10 years, but this looks like a quite new diver ? I didn't think the capacitor would have reached it's sell by date on such a recent piece ?
For reference, here is a good tutorial on how to do it yourself:

Looks like that replacement is a Li-Ion battery rather than a capacitor then?
I now understand even less why these movements are so expensive. It's a gloryfied battery charger!
It's worse than that. My capacitor lasted a good deal shorter than a battery would.Originally Posted by jrpippen
So I got to pay a larger price more often.
Fail.
So whats the bloody point. Better to have a normal quartz with a super battery!
Anyway, I've replaced mine. Easy peasy.
Followed these instructions.

All done.
Thanks for that - useful info.
