    Chrono24

Seen a couple of watches on Chrono24 from "trusted sellers since 2008" one is in the USA but one is in Taiwan

I'm wondering just how trusted these "trusted sellers" are?

Has anyone got any info on Chrono24 and it's seller network?

I am from Germany and i asked the same Question in a german Forum.
You just pay for the Label. It means nearly nothing. But there are a lot Sellers you can trust.
But i would not trust Sellers from Taiwan.

Bought from Chrono24 in the past.

Personally I would only buy from established dealers, watchfinder, blowers etc etc.

Always got a discount when I rang the shop direct and mentioned chrono24.

I would buy at established dealers in Europe or the USA, but what would you do when you have trouble with a Dealer from Taiwan?

I have found that if the Seller is "trusted seller" in Chrono24 then in
most cases if you use search engines you will be able to get some
background and they have normal webpages as well.
I do not think that Seller with good reputation in Asia is worse then
in Europe, only tax issues etc. But it is same with US.

I've visited a few of the "biggest" Taiwanese shops that have watches on Chrono24. They are legit businesses, have nice watches and reasonable prices. I'd have no issue buying from them.

It might be the perception but in general the majority are good honest upstanding people, the law abiding of the far east have a vested interest in removing such fakes so I imagine many are reporting them accordingly

I've used Chrono24 many times, and had no trouble at all. In fact I think its a good platform. Of course, there are no "get out of jail free" cards in any of this watch business. So I'd just be inclined, as in all situations, to do your due diligence on a case by case basis.

Many good dealers are from Taiwan, and in my experience, pricing is much better than Hong Kong. I have bought a couple from Taiwan dealers in the past.

of course! like all internet vehicles that take you places that you like to go to, it's always the same "tread carefully" and remember to "Buy the seller"
Hopefully you won't encounter any :pirate:'s along the way.

What will you do when you have a problem with a dealer in California, or Italy, or Spain, for that matter?

The only way is to do whatever due diligence you can, and if in any doubt, given the size of the outlay, decide whether it's worth the risk. Same applies within the good old UK (where I'm sure there's never any fraud at all).

If they have a shop you can check the address and then have a gander on Google Streetview. I bought a Flightmaster from Mastrict on Chrono24 with no probs

Found their website and it seems they have a fair few watches on there so the question is has anyone brought from them?

Now I have seen a number of watches that I am keen on so would be greatful if there are any more of you out there that have brought via chrono24. I know they are a site for shops and private individuals but I am not so sure whether to go ahead with a purchase from overseas?

    Re: Chrono24

My first ever significant watch purchase was through Chrono24. I bought a Speedmaster from Horlogerie Alex who are based in the Netherlands. Chap called Mark Martins. I was completly naive, did the minimum of background checks and tenuously completed a £1k+ international bank transfer. (See intro post for pic!)

Luckily all went smoothly and I have in fact both bought and sold watches with Mark since. If its vinatage Omega anyone wants I can highly recommend the service I recieved. Only gripe is he describes all his watches as B&P, but the papers are usually printouts of manuals, nicely laminated, but not orginal. Best to get confirmation of what you are actualy going to get. Also his prices could be keener, but in my experience he will negotiate...

In reality I don't think Chrono24 carries much more risk than buying from anywhere else, as long as you do your due dilegence. :)

    Cheers,

    Rob
