    Good movie.

If the real bike was even half as rickety as the movie made it seem, that guy had bollocks the size of Gibraltar!

    Cheers,

    Jay

watched again today. Still a great movie. A very brave/crazy guy. The only downside to the movie is the slightly dodgy NZ accent.

Yep, brilliant film. Love the bit were the marshals are following Burt to see if his bike is suitable to run and he opens the taps and disappears in to the distance. Superb :)

This may be of interest to fans of this fantastic film. This hardwood plug was comissioned by the MD of the UK's largest diecast model importer for possible manufacture but there was never enough interest showed sadly.

The model is approx 30cm in length and very nicely made. Graphics are hand painted.
It could be an interesting item to pop on SC, but as it's a total one off what price could one put on it

This made me recall a rather hot lamb dish I had a while back from the local takeaway, which went through me like a bad does of salts!

One of those films that, if it's on, I will watch it. Makes no difference how many times you've seen it before.

Saw it a few years ago late on TV, did not know anything about it but ordered the DVD the next day to re-watch.

Never seen the film but always reminds me of my chubby eastern friend at work who made me laugh by referring to himself as the "worlds FATEST indian"!

The closest thing I own to an Indian motorbike...

    The wallet, not the watch..

    Re: worlds fastest indian

I found it a weird film. It's a whole bunch of only loosely related "episodes" where things sort of happen but nothing particularly exciting. Look! He gets challenged to a race by some nasty boys. Oh, they turn out nice and wish him luck. Oh look! He gets stopped by a policeman! Oh wait, he gets let off. Oh look! He meets a strange woman in the middle of nowhere! Oh, she's actually quite friendly and they end up hooking up for the night.

However, this turns the whole film into a very pleasant way of spending a few hours. There's no Michael Bay slo-mo exploding helicopters or anything like that. A rather old-school way of doing things, and all the better for it.

I liked the bike too and a good story overall.

Good film. I read that A Hopkins liked the script so much that his fee was well below what he would normally expect, and that after meeting Bert Monroe, became friends.
Someone may correct me here, but I don't think Monroe's record (for his class) has ever been broken.

I used to have a little Indian trials bike. A 175cc if I remember. Fxxxing unreliable it was!

Lovely film :) Sprinters are all one off's. We discussed the late great George Brown in this thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=188491 like Burt Munroe some of George's records still stand! He held 24 world records:shock:
