Nice.
I have been circling a Gen II
As I mentioned before: I was on the hunt for an Omega X-33 (http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic...menno#p2104288) Fellow forum member jrpippin came to rescue me and sold me his Gen 1. And it arrived today.
Around noon, the postman arrived and delivered the parcel. Inside: an Icon! Omega's X-33 Gen 1. Not sold to common souls like us since 2006. Only for space cowboys now. Rumour has it that Omega still sponsors the space flights to the ISS. And I'm certain of the fact that the astronauts wear a X-33.
Since I'm on earth, I think I should comment on what I see... Inside the package a titanium watch with Omega's Coramide strap. Used, but in good shape for many 'wrist hours'. An interesting strap: very light to wear, beautifully made. (the Ofrei website tells us it's very, very expensive...) The watch is 'a G Shock made by the Swiss' All sorts of features and tricks. I have figure that out with the help of one of my sons, I think... The hands are very, very clear. Lumen is fantastic; you need welding goggles! The second hand ticks away every second, pointing exactly at the markers. After 30 sec, the minute hand shifts forward about a half minute. 30 sec later, the minute hand moves forward to the next minute like a station clock.
The titanium material is very, very light and personally I think that the polished parts are a nice 'contradiction' to the 'dull' titanium. It's an interesting watch to look at. Compared with an ordinary Speedy, this Speedy is a little larger, with extra buttons etc. But, since it's a little thicker, it's not a problem.
During the days the watch was on its way to my address, I managed to obtain a brand new Gasgasbones strap with 'Nasa' label! So, the first pics you see are with my favorite nato (from eBay seller Watchbarn.com22), other pics are with my newly aquired Gasgasbones!

Nice.

Very nice. It really suits that strap.
I have seen quite a few X33's on really bold straps like the red kevlar which I think works well.
Congrats!
Realy like that Gasgasbone strap.
Looks really good on the GasGas.
I had an X33 a few years ago. Didn't really get on with it while I had it but it's now one of the few I really regret parting with.
Enjoy!
Lovely watch congratulations
Nice watch - a good collectible and it is had to go wrong with the X-33 8)
Hi Menno,
Great watch. One of the best quartz around. (as are the EZM2, B1, to name a few) It didn't come with the titanium bracelet? The straps look good, but the bracelet is sooooo comfortable.
Love that gasgasbones Velcro. Where did you source it?
Watch obsession have them listed but out of stock?

Any interesting engraving on the case back - naval aviators wings etc ec? :P :P
Yes, unless one is connected.Originally Posted by thieuster

She is a stunner. She will be missed at the stable.
Contratulations. P.s I started the mission timer just as I sealed the parcel. Is it still going?
Never seen this before
Never seen an x33 before?Originally Posted by dropbear2007
Oh, I missed this posting. Yes and no: it was running when I received the watch. Not realising what mission you (we) were timing. Shame I didn't notice it. The watch is really on top of my son's 'watch hit parade': the same as the Dutch astronaut in space, and it has all sorts of gadgets. Kids love that.Originally Posted by jrpippen
Btw: a lot of primary schools overhere in Holland participate in a space project with Andre Kuipers, the Dutch astronaut. One of the things kids can do, is sending him a message / question etc. My son's class did some tests with plants as part of the project. And my son added to his part of the email: 'Sir, my father has the same watch as you have!' I haven't heared about a reply yet. But it's funny!

Brilliant!
very nice find,i think the x33's are a bit of a sleeper ,and one day people will start to understand what a cracking watch it is.Mine says high
Looks fantastic on the bracelet.....what's the WR on these?
I hadn't realised how reasonable these were price wise!
What are the differences between the Gen 1 and 2?
I have never owned one but is that not a gen 2 crown? I cant remember the other differences, less shiny bits on the second model?

THIN is the new BLACK
Many thanks!
The Gen1 is my favourite. :)
I like the contrast of the stainless bezel 8)
The Gen 2 answered alot of the developed issues of the Gen1, but most Gen 1's
have had the internal upgrades at warranty or service.
The X33 is a future classic imho.
Lots of differences between a Gen 1 and Gen 2. You can see them here: http://ialreadyhaveawatch.com/watch-...nd-gen-2-x-33/Originally Posted by dforgrieve

Hi
They are fantastic watches, had mine on yesterday.
if you fancy going down the "rubber" route I can highly recommend the following:
Sinn 20mm rubber
Sinn butterfly deployant
The rubber fits exactly to the watch head and the butterfly is way less bulky that the normal deployant.
I'll get a pix sorted out.
Thanks

Useful info! Thanks. I think I can trial fit a rubber Sinn strap from a fellow watch friend!Originally Posted by deano42

Great looking watch and some good links posted on this thread.
I can never decide though whether it looks better on the bracelet or strap :D
Lovely watch on the bracelet, bu not sure about the strap....
Stunnning - would never buy..... But maybe now - the pictures do it a lot of justice
Congratulations they are great watches .... I really wish I had kept hold of mine!
The last great Omega design in my opinion. I prefer the second gen - Ti bracelet is best!
