FOR THOSE WHO WERE INTERESTED.. Mr. SEIKO 6138/6139 bracelet

Having bought a Seiko 6138 with a rather poor bracelet I decided to get a better one and JMK500/Mr. SEIKO off E-bay seemed to have just the job. As it turned out while my bracelet was on route from the U.S there was a couple of threads asking about bracelets for the 6138 and 6139 and and few members asked for any pics and opinions on it.

Well it arrived in record time despite New Year, a week from buying to delivery. If I'm honest I'm not over thrilled. The end pieces are sold separate for the 6138 and they are swapped with the ones originally designed for the bracelet, which is for the 6139.
Problem is that the 6138 end pieces are a perfect fit until you insert the end link of the bracelet and put spring bar through. It doesn't quite all line up, indeed you can only get the s.bar to locate by with the end link facing up with watch face down. If it's all in a straight line the S. bar will not locate, being pushed a touch out of position. The bracelets end link is very stiff on the watch and will not move freely up and down as you would expect.
This also makes the end piece slightly proud of the case, obvious in the pics (you can see where it's pulled some fluff on my jumper  )
In fairness to the naked eye it's not such a bad fit and no worse than some original period Seiko bracelets you see.
I have not tried to refit with end link bent a bit to try and get a better fit. It was such a sod to do first time

The rest of the bracelet is good enough quality but at £50 I have seen better, would have thought I would have got screw in links.
Probably a lot better fit on the 6139 where there is more room to manoeuvre with the spring bar.

Hope this makes sense to those who were interested.

    Hi Mike
Thanks for the review. The end links don't look too bad but I must admit I would not be able to resist the temptation to tweak them slightly to get a better line between the lugs and end pieces.
    Kind regards
    Dave

    Thanks for the report back.

Here is my thread for people's info.

I have a 6139 and I found the in-bits OEM bracelet that came with the watch when I acquired it (seller had it on a strap). Going to ask my Seiko specialist to try and put it back together. If that doesn't work, I may try 'Mr.Seiko'.

There are also a couple of recommended e-bay Asian sellers whom I'll post up if I dig out the names.

    Thanks again.

Bracelet looks good although see what you mean about the end links - that'd bug me too. Interested as to whether you manage to sort it.

Me three - I started this thread:

    viewtopic.php?f=1&t=203401

I've actually just ordered on of these:

    http://www.watchobsession.co.uk/Other-W ... ack-Yellow

It looks really cool in GRK's pic (assuming it's the same strap - it appears to be) although it is 20mm, not 19mm so it might take a bit of cramming. It hasn't arrived yet so I've yet to find out what it looks like for real.

I'm pretty fickle about straps/bracelets and tend to change them around a lot anyway, so I can see me getting a bracelet too. Not sure about these lugs though. Towards the end of my thread, there's an unresolved discussion about the fact that some of the 6138 cases have a different shape - Mike's and mine are the same, with the bezel overhanging the cutout between the lugs, whereas the pictures posted by Joel show a version that does not do this. I would bet that Mike's new bracelet would fit much more neatly on Joel's 6138, because the end link would not get pushed out by the bezel as we're seeing here.
