Railway Timekeeper - pocket watch repair

This was a gift from a mate who knows I am into wtaches.
Wiki tells us that railway timekeeper is a generic name for a budget, cheap n cheerful pocket watch.
The movement suggests it was todays version of our disposable £5 digital watches.
However - I like it, and I want to fix it, and have it running properly again.

    Problems include:
It appears to be over wound
It needs a damn good service - ticks 2-10 seconds then stops
The hand(s) need attaching properly, the minute hand is loose, and already has punch marks in the brass insert.

Any additional info or links will be appreciated.
I want to do most of the work myself - so any help and advice would be very useful.

Now some pics, of what I think is a beautiful little pocket watch.
The lume is dim - but still there.

Clip on rear in good condition

The movement - no jewels, no finesse, and industrial grade technology

    Thanks for looking
I will update as things progress, and when my local jeweller opens up for advice.

Re: Railway Timekeeper - pocket watch repair

OK - I need advice now, so my apologies in advance for the stupid questions.

On the railway timekeeper above, there is no obvious drive to the hour / minute hands.
The main spring cage is regulated via the outer gear drive only.

The transfer gears spin independantly on a brass bush bearing at the rear of main springcage.
They connect to the gears for the hour & minute hands.
But they are free moving, with no drive available, apart from the regulated cage above.

Is this is a friction drive - like a slipping clutch?
one turn of the main spring drum = 3 hours, so I think it could be.
So my question is this - will the free-moving loose coupling drive the hands.
    Cheers for the replies

There's a pocket watch forum over on RLT that might be able to help.

    Thanks Mike,
I need to conduct a visit to my local jewellers (under cover of darkness).
He might know the basic principles of how this one works.
Then I'll see what happens after the rebuild.

In the meantime - I'll check out the pocketwatch forum.
    Cheers

Re: Railway Timekeeper pocket watch repair - all done

    The movement repair is complete.
The dial will be replaced once all the bits have been oiled up properly.
    It's ticking away beautifully.

    Thanks for the moral support.
The slipping clutch on the mainspring cage did need tightening up.
It was one of the many problems I found due to age related wear & tear.

I'm guessing it's from the 1960's - so likely to be 40-50 years old.
