I'm liking this much clearer to read time on busy dial.

I would agree that the hands compliment the busy dial.

    Re: Painted hands

I used Humbrol matt white, thinned down and did several coats, left the hands on and protected the face with paper cut outs under the hands

    Re: Painted hands

there was only lume on the minute and hour hands which wasn't very bright anyway, I mixed into the white humbrol a small amount of lume powder(bought on here) so I now have lume on all hands

    Re: Painted hands

Ah, cool! I wondered if you'd have to remove the hands.

    *scratches chin*

You don't fancy selling me some do you? (I don't have either the paint nor the powder.)

Can you post a picture in the dark showing the lume?

    Re: Painted hands

as soon as I take one I will, but you'll have to bear with me, I've never taken a lume shot before

    Re: Painted hands

    Good luck then.

You will have to set the exposure to >1s. Obviously, holding the camera in your hands rather than using a tripod will have your photo being submitted as Top Ebay Photograph 2011 entry.

Set your camera to an exposure time of 1 second. Get it steady (a tripod or a set of books). Focus on the watch. Make the room dark. Take a flashlight and shine it on your watch for about a minute. Turn of the fleshlight and press the button of your camera. (don't us flash :!: )

    Re: Painted hands

well here you are chaps, quite pleased with my first ever lume shot, and the painted on lume is a pretty good match with the original
(just taken a few minutes ago(resting my hand on a box so not the best)

Agreed. I am not a fan of hands that split the lume up.

    Re: Painted hands

It was particularly good idea to paint the timer hands white, the idea to have them "Victorinox red" was just a triumph of design over practicality. And the effect really good, both in readability and esthetics.
PS I Hope, I did not put to many spelling mistakes in the long words!

    Re: Painted hands

looks less dark, paint looks fresher than the lume...
