I say ! Depth rating in red wow. That must be worth something .Unbelievable.
Just spent a happy while clicking thru the online catalogue for the upcoming watch sale at Sotheby's, London.
Thought some of you might be interested in the 346 lots on offer ....including some amazing pieces.
I was particularly taken with the following 2 lots, both remarkable in their own right...
The first is described as a circa 1975 Rolex Submariner, offered for sale by the family of Keith Jessop, and used on the amazing deep sea operation to recover 5 tons of Stalin's gold from HMS Edinburgh....

The second truly amazing piece is a rare 1959 Submariner 6536-1 with Depth Rating in RED....estimate for this incredible watch is £30k - £50k....and don't forget the 30% Buyers premium when one of you get your cheque book out.... :)

Lots more to look at and dream of owning .... enjoy....

Thanks for that.
Can't say I will be buying, but interesting anyway.
Ian.
I'm sure I read somewhere there are only a handful of depth RED in existence.

Nice.....replacement dial and probably hands also.....what a crock. :D
very tempting. How much commission does Sotheby's charge?
FMF
I think its 20-35% depending on how much it goes for, got a feeling 20% up to 100k then 12% after..Originally Posted by FrogmanFreak

It's not bad business to be in if my assumptions are right.. they're definitely the winner..
Thanks.
Indeed the middleman always wins.
Nice to see, interesting. Cant afford to buy out at the minute though lol
