    R.I.P. Louis Gossett Jr.

    Passed away, yesterday aged 87.

    Among Gossett’s many roles on the big and small screens, his best-known include drill instructor Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley in
    “An Officer and a Gentleman,” for which he became the first Black actor to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

    My wife didn't know who his was.

    So last night I said she was in for a treat and we watched Midnight Sting aka Diggstown. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104107
    In my head, it was epic. But it hasn't aged well since 1992.

    Wife thought my choice of film was bad!

    I was tempted to show her Iron Eagle, but I think that would have been worse!

    He was one of the more memorable recurring characters on Rockford Files, playing a rival PI to Rockford. Should've been a bigger star but found fame a bit late (45 in 'An officer...'). Similar tale to many of his generation of black actors.
