I once pee'd in my left welly boot. No idea why I did it or why I picked the left.

I suppose the moral of the story, if there is one, is don't drink good red wine, fine port and lots of single malt all in one night.

    Quite impressed I never spilled.....

Surprisingly good selection of Japanese whiskies at Scönefeld.
I thought I'd take my first foray into the far eastern tipple with this...

Got the same problem Tom, wonder if there will be a fix or is this an intentional 'nobble'?

Relieved that I'm incapable of succumbing to the fashion. A beard is like a huge advert that says, "I'm insecure about something, and dumb enough to think that this patch of unfortunately-ginger-tinged hair will somehow distract from it".

And I love my 34mm Longines very much. Almost had it six months and still in that first flush of besmittenment.

Is this sensation available in mainstream UK supermarkets or in only specialist shops? I'll be back in Blighty in a couple of weeks and feel it is something I really should investigate.

Under Settings->Battery you can see what apps have been depleting the battery in the last 24 hours and 7 days, and how much time that was "in the background".

Mail was a big one for me - seemed my corporate mail server was "pushing" a lot of reminders and emails. So I went to Settings->Mail,Contacts,Calendars and changed the offending account to use Fetch not Push.

Also worth checking the usual app suspects for "Location Services" (under Settings->Privacy) to see if they are lighting up the GPS to track you, and Background App Refresh (Settings->General->Background App Refresh) in case they are running in the background needlessly.

Paul - get a blog going about Apple giving random advice mate! This is next-level "cut-through-the-BS" stuff and I've just done the same with mail after this was my great offender.

Not sure what the supermarket brands are but this was the one below from Costco. Just stunning, even better than bacon!

I've watched TV chefs for ages preparing and pan frying duck breast so finally thought I'd have a go. I bought one from Sainsburys. Having looked at several recipes on line in the end I just used the suggestion on the back of the pack: 6 mins in a hot pan skin side down then 15 mins in a Gas 6 oven.
It came out with the skin crispy and cut nicely, just blushing in the middle. I didn't like it at all. I'm not one for any sort of meat that isn't well done and this was slimy and vaguely unpleasant. I ate it all because it cost £4. But not again even though I have had and enjoyed whole roast duck.

I'm opening the car door while juggling rugby kit, drinks bottles and bags.

Then, I feel a burning sensation. I look down but can't see anything. The pain is increasing so I lift my arm up to see a wasp getting stuck in. It gives its abdomen a few more jabs before unsticking itself and flying off. I can't swat it as I'm still carrying all the kit.

Dejected, I drop the kit and check my watch. It's 11:30am. I buy a coffee but I could do with a pint.

A couple of weeks ago we went to see an apiary where we were supposed to be watching the bees make honey. Instead, we watched wasps eating the bees.

    I hate wasps.

Wasps are the twats of the insect world. They are always grumpy, and can sting loads of times. Bees are furry and make honey, and if they sting, they have to pull their arse inside out to do it, which has a kind of noble sacrifice vibe.

Unfortunately walked into the living room as the wife was watching X-factor. Stood bemused while a young woman in shorts?? screamed her lungs out so loudly her nose must have bled. Then watched in horror as two strange young men tried to perform a song as they were both out of tune, out of time and must have been out of their boxes.
At this point I turned and walked out. I felt dirty and shamed. Has the world really become this shallow, facile and talentless.

** The above has been toned down due to not being in the Bear Pit, but what a pair of (bleeping) freaks.

I have never understood why anybody would be interested to watch these "talent" shows, no matter if they are about singing, dancing or any other discipline. Or farmers looking to marry....

Apart from 2-3 occasions I've been off the booze since mid-May (certain 'life events' mean its probably better I ease off for a while).

Last weekend I went to stay with friends.

    Vodka happened.

I now seem to no longer have any hair on my head.

    1. don't dare someone with clippers in their hand....
    2. being shaven during a dinner party was surreal and fun tbh
    3. I don't mind tbh. I've secretly wanted 'crew cut' for years [always had it as a student...which in my mind was recent but was 20+yrs ago]

I hate waiting for stuff. Especially when it looks like my stuff will arrive tomorrow and I won't be in to sign for it which means it will probably be Wednesday until I can get to the sorting office to collect it!
