When I first took my wife to the US (I had spent a few years in NYC, she had never crossed the pond) we stopped at a hotel where the bath was also a jacuzzi...
She wanted a bubble bath. She sure got one
I will always remember how horrified she looked when she realised the extent of the white monster she had created.
It took us 3 hours to clean... I don’t think I’ve laughed so much since.

My current favourite buzzword bingo gambit involves inserting the acronym for a German quango, GIZ, as often as possible but pronouncing it as jizz. I notice that everybody else spells out the initials and once I get bored with my version I think I'll switch to spelling them out in German - Gay Eee Tsett.

I don't understand the attraction of cabriolets/convertibles. At all. Why would you want to breath in all the crap that is in the air and endure the outside noise, when you can sit in a nice enclosed air-conditioned & air-filtered cabin with a glass roof?

Reminds me that I still haven't filled the Breitling Emergency ownership-change form from four years ago.

You forgot to mention that it also messes the hear up. On the upside, there is nothing more hilarious than a huge birds sh1t exploding on the windscreen and showering your mates on the backseat or being stuck in the traffic behind a fully loaded refuse collection truck while ferrying your date..

Bought my first new phone ever 2 weeks ago (all the rest have been 2nd hand, mostly Sales Corner iphones!) - iPhone X
Bought a case (an Apple one, leather. lovely) and a £35 flexi glass super screen protector. Never normally bother with either.

Managed to totally break the screen on Saturday night, and chip the edge of the glass-edged phone - no idea how. Didn't do much damage to the protector or case though....

I'm pleased to announce I'm currently not dead. I survived a bout of urosepsis, for which I was admitted on Wednesday and released today, having been given a lot of some of the strongest antibiotics available. Weak a kitten but home.

Good news! (The former, not the latter.) Rest up.

One shouldn’t underestimate the comic value of a waitress with a plate of hot food in the canteen of the French embassy calling out for soixante-neuf. Here indignant response when somebody suggested they were hoping for a soixante-dix-Neuf was even funnier.

I always used to wonder that in the context of pay-per-word adverts. And what about hyphenated words!?

I’m interviewing somebody tomorrow morning* having just finished watching the 2nd series of Broadchurch. I really must try to avoid referring to the candidate as the suspect...

We were limited to 30 lines per procedure. It was in 1988 so early days of 4GL languages. Using the 1=1 hack gave us up to 90 embedded commands in 30 lines instead of just 30.

A few years ago we had the builders in our old house. I wanted my money's worth so I was feeding them double espressos all day. All the guys were having 3-4 doubles per day and loving it.

The same builder started in our new house today. We've moved out for a few weeks but popped over at lunch to check in on them.

This is the first thing I saw in the kitchen. Poor guy says he can't work without it now and takes it to every job. Can't stop laughing.

That reminded me of a quote best suited to another topic, in a different sub forum: "They have a right to be ignorant. Knowledge only means complicity in guilt; ignorance has a certain dignity."

The phrase "built for comfort, not for speed" comes from the 1959 song "Built For Comfort" written by Willie Dixon, who also wrote a lot of other songs you may have heard of.

There are too many houseplants in our small lounge.

Soon I will have to drop a particularly acidic fart and kill a few off.
I like plants but it’s too busy in here.
