I've no idea what it is but I've got biggest flying insect I've ever seen trying to get into my lounge here in Baku and I daren't go out in case it bites me.

It's 08:45, I'm at my desk (rare 'Nidle spotted in office shocker) and eating chicken pakora dipping it in Franks Red Hot Wing sauce.

I am beginning to worry for the state of my tastebuds.

Give it a couple of hours and you'll be worrying about something else.

Just had someone pop in to apply for a job. There is a recruitment monitoring form on the back of our application form. Before she left, as I'm the one who will be doing the interview I asked if she had any questions.

    "What is a middle name?"

    "What is my ethnic origin?"

"What should I put for religion?"

I think this one could be a keeper.

Moving house next week. Took a beer into the workshop to assess. I have so much STUFF it is frightening. Already culled a truck load (literally) to the local auction house a month ago, but even without the big machine tools I sold I reckon that the workshop is a 7 1/2 tonner on it's own (and the new workshop until extended is only ten by fifteen. Feet)

    I'm buggered.

What are the stars next to certain topics? I thought it was to do with number of replies, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The FAQ mentions it's a rating system, however I can't see where this is. Apparently it's at the top of whatever thread you're in. Maybe I'm not seeing it for looking.

Go up the posts on this page to the top. Just above the first post there's a line. On it it says 'Rate this thread'.

Hmm, yeah I can't see it. Maybe it will just appear one day like Sheds and the Sales Corner did.

Went to the gym today, first time this year, what with a fucked Achilles and an intermittent lower back problem.

Feel better for it, mainly coz I did it in works time.

I am desperately craving something new for the wrist, even though I'm supposed to be saving up for a house purchase. We don't really need to have a home, do we?

Depends on what kind of home you want. A 99 pence watch off ebay shouldn't tip the mortgage.

Very true, but all purchases feel like a bit of a crime these days. I don't have the most expensive taste, though, and might just try to swap my 79090 for something else fun. Luckily I don't have the collector gene.

Last summer a very small fly got between the outer layer of screen and LED on my macbook air, it was impossible to get it out. Eventually I couldn't see it anymore, maybe it burned up or something.

It's summer again and these tiny black flies are around, I hoping it doesn't happen again.

Same thing happened on my MBP, SWMBO squashed it so the corpse is still there. :-(

Ffs. The trains on the east coast mainline are ****ed today. Power line issues.

So much for getting into London at usual time and getting away early today :(

Will hang about a bit and see if any trains at all turn up.

I own a snack vending machine that is in the communal area of our office complex. As I have moved house and will now rarely be at the office to monitor it and top it up with sweet and salty treats I've run it down to empty and have a guy coming to collect it tomorrow.

I've just emptied the coin mechanism and the coin bucket, it's quite astonishing how much money there is in a full coin mechanism!

Sitting in my office at home, staring idly out of the window thinking about nothing in particular, and a Vulcan bomber (presumably XH558) flew past.

I bought a car all by myself without asking the Internet for an opinion, I expect the wheels will fall off and it will explode like the baddies cars in the A-Team / Knight Rider; in the mean time I'll just enjoy the straight-six sound track.

It's done. Decided. A two-liner Pelagos will replace my 79090 Sub as soon as possible. There, I've put it in writing, and can't keep changing my mind.

Right, I had a new PC with 2tb secondary drive for 10 months now. So I guess I should actually do a proper job of ripping all my cds.

Been putting this off for way too long.

    The random disclosure thread.

We bought our house 3 years ago and a stack of documents just turned up today from the solicitors! Apparently they just found these documents lying around. Most is tedious old planning consent stuff but one was an in depth archaeologists report on our house dated 1982. Fascinating. In it they say that a good proportion of the original timber frame still stands and the joints/structure and other clues indicate it dates from the 14th century when it was a hall dwelling, with some additions to it made in the 17th century. The house is listed and the details say its 17th century with later additions, which I thought was old, but it seems our house is considerably older than I thought. I always said the timber in the old loft part under the thatch looks medieval. Seems I wasn't exaggerating.

I am (genuinely) concerned that I may be getting vitiligo (present in the maternal line) as I have developed a white, tuppence sized, melatonin free patch of skin. The problem is that it is on my happybags.

As a man who has not bothered a Doctor's doorway in two decades at least, this is daunting.

My wife and I just had a good giggle at an email from a French lady at the ESF ski school. It was an incredibly long, tortured English complex reply to a simple question about ski lesson prices. The cherry on top was the closing remark: "Do not bother to contact me if you have any more question". I think this is sound advice.
