The '80s for me. I'm still driving around in a car from that era (that has a tape deck!)
60's! Best music, my job was sport, sport, sport! I did the longest overland expedition ever, & oh so many girls :D
Rod
For music/tv/movies the 80's were great.
80's for me too. Passed my bike test, lost my virginity :D passed my A levels and got my 1st job, bought my 1st house and got married too.
Music was great, and saw my favourite band, The Jam play at least 8 or 9 times including their final ever gig in Brighton in 82.
Football team (Bristol City) were rubbish in the main but we did win the Freight Rover Trophy at the old Wem-ber-lee back in 86 beating Bolton.
Loved the TV and my highlight would have been Hill Street Blues.
60s. Furniture wise, that is (my wife and I collect vintage furniture: Eames, Fritz Hansen etc)
70s Music wise.
Menno
1820's. that wiped the smile off napoleons face.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
60's for the girls, mini skirts etc.
70's for first girlfriends, and my dearly missed Norton commando 750c.c.
80's for my first Ford Capri 2.0s,also dearly missed
90's for the birth of my son.
60's for everything. :D
Cheers,
Neil.
1970's easy...........summer breeze 1976 it did not rain for 6 months in Essex!
I saw Led Zeppelin 3 times
My hair was half way down my back!
I met Ozzie Osbourne
Hit an off drive for 2 off Neil 'Fozzie' Foster The Wivenhoe Express
Saw the Stranglers in Battersea Park (had a wee with Hugh Cornwell)
Southend held Liverpool in the FA Cup 0-0 Keegan, Hansen etal...lost the replay 1-0
Peter 'Spud' Taylor on the wing & Big Bill Garner up front.
Rode a 550GT Suzuki.... 3 into one system that would wake the dead, it had a Swansong paint job!
played harmonica in the Fat's acid blues band
Drove a 2.5 Ford Zephyr with a sun blind spelling The Monster
Reading Rock when Rory Gallagher headlined 1978
Dr Feelgood were number 1 :D
It was cool to dress as a Roundhead at the weekend
Stayed single the whole decade!!!!
Must be the '60s, because of the sense of renaissance and change. The Beatles, mini-skirts, swinging London (etc). An incredible time of change. If you look at photos of life in Britain in 1961 and compare them with images from 1968, you might think they were 40 years apart.
That said the '80s were pretty good as well, once the years of stagnation and decline had been been reversed by Mrs T.
Blimey you lot are old
"A man of little significance"
Was born in the 60's 8)
crap hair cut in the 70's
sex olympics in the 80's
worked me bollocks off in the 90's :(
I guess it depends when you grew up, what music you were into and how much money you had (or didn't have).
The 90's were my teenage years and I loved them!
70's. Dr Feelgood at the Southend Kursaal. 'Nuff said :D
Either 80s - similar reasons to above: discovered girls, left home, got first car, got first job, etc.
OR 00s - got divorced, found love of my life (and future mother to my son), finally started earning a reasonable amount of money, bought a V8, and so on.
(edit - 10s are looking good so far too)
The bits in between were (quite frankly) shit - punctuated by various affairs.
Prior to the 80s I was (realistically) too young to know (born in 1965).
Cheers,
Sorry to be "outside the box," but I'd have to say the '50s (when I was 3-13).
...Eisenhower
...Elvis and the birth of Rock & Roll
...Front doors unlocked
...Spending time outdoors
...Television's 'Golden Years'
...No 'politically correct' or '...incorrect'
...$0.20 per gallon gasoline
...$0.24 per pack cigarettes (I smoked as a lad!)
...Big engines and tall fins
...Cherry Cokes at the drug store fountain
...School girls in plaid skirts (late '50s)
...The simpler life
Enjoyed the 70s when i was a kid, Raleigh bikes, cool films at the smoke filled cinema, great sweets.
Loved the 80s, girls, daft haitcuts, drinking in the park, smoking, wagging school, adidas trainers galore.
Favourite was the 90s, uni days, great friends to this day.
Born in the 60's but can't remember them :binky:
Grew up in the 70's but prefer to forget them :rr:
Came of age in the 80's but was skint for most of them :?
Great fun and freedom in the 90's and have fond if hazy memories of them :drunken:
Family, responsibility and hard work in the 00's but I wouldn't change any of them :walk:
Grey hair and gravity have taken hold in the 10's and I'm ok with them
60s. Best clothes, best music and best cars.

80's for my memories
A tie between 60s & 70s for me.
60s for music (just)......70s because that's when I was a teenager :)
Spent the 80s married and in debt......and a lot of the music was shit (with some notable exceptions)
1st half of the 90s was a blur.....marriage going stale, but financially doing OK
2nd half of 90s included 'domestic rearrangements'....divorce followed by new partner.
00s was hard work, career starting to go into decline, most stressful decade
10s have been v. relaxing so far.......redundancy and early retirement last year at 52 :D
Shit, I`ve summed up my whole life in 7 lines
Paul
Worked way too hard in the 90's, which sparked off some kind of nervous breakdown, causing me to forget most
of the 60's, 70's, and 80's
So NOW, I guess, is the best time
Little bits keep coming back, music from the 80's in particular, which kick starts some great memories of Art College!
I love them all and couldnt possibly pick one. I was born in the 80s if that helps :P
60's definitely. Fast cars with V8 engines, women in minis and mini skirts! Not that I got much of either until the 70's ....... so maybe the 70's!
Mike
Being born in 1971, I would have to say the 80's as those were my formative years - and memories of the Young Ones, Blackadder, Friday/Saturday Night Live, The Word etc etc.
Learnt to drive, lost my virginity, Belinda Carlisle (when she was smokin :love4: ), school disco's, big hair, questionable fashion and too many others to mention.
Another vote for ALL of them.....with '60's winning by a short head ..... :love1: :love2: :love3: :love4:

Much like 2011! V8's have come back in a big way of late. Plus after 10pm hit your local town if you want to see women in mini mini skirts :POriginally Posted by tixntox
Nostalgically, can't decide between the 70's and 80's
but best time, probably cos I'm still young enough to enjoy them and old enough to afford them, has to be the noughtees
