Any chance of getting his address so that I can nip round and give him some advice ? :D
Was at a friend's parent's house the other night, spotted his dad's gold Date on the dresser
To think I wasted all that money on a watch box...

Ralph Waldo Emerson: We ask for long life, but 'tis deep life, or noble moments that signify. Let the measure of time be spiritual, not mechanical.
Unbelievable  , was he not worried he might break the crystal / glass!?
thats my type of guy :lol:Originally Posted by Foxy100

At the end of the day its just a watch.
Like the man's style. It is supposed to be robust so why not assume that to be the case. Have to confess though I don't think I could do that to it.
Nice looking dresser!
From the type of bracelet it's survived 50 odd years already - wouldn't worry :)
I find myself reluctantly sympathising with this point of view! I don't agree with babying watches. (Though this is probably taking it a bit far)Originally Posted by halfscrew

I am not a fan of that.
I kinda like it. Then again I like the idea of off roading in a rolls.
Different strokes etc.
Each to there own, I personally wouldn't store my watch like that.
Funny you say that...Originally Posted by Concub1ne

i keep all my watches in watch box
something like that is impossible for me
This should have been the norm. Thankfully, as the watches in the SC testify, people take way too much care of them.
On another note, I have seen some pretty roughed up Rolex wathces, return from service looking like new.
I wouldn't store a watch like that.
Then again, I wouldn't take sly pictures of other people's watches on their dressers either. :D
Sly?! Do you think a chap who stores his watch like that would care about me taking a picture of it?Originally Posted by verv

My apologies. I had assumed that it was a covert photo rather than a permission granted one :)

Guys choice and nice to see somebody who is not a "watch tart" i personally wear my Rolex watches and the only reason i would not do this to them is its stupid to cause damage unnescessarily
I FEEL LIKE I'M DIAGONALLY PARKED IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE
A watch like that would be on my wrist 24/7, therefore no storeing problem.
It's a watch at the end of the day, not a blooming faberge egg. So wear it, use it and enjoy it. What's the kerfuffle about?
Of course and even storing like that is not going to damage it is it?Originally Posted by Josh B

No it won't. Unless the thought of the odd scratch fills you with dread in which case I suggest the problem is you!
I have no idea if he always keeps it like this, it could just be running fast...

I get the coolness factor that arises from a certain nonchalance when handling extremely expensive items.
However, the obsessive compulsive in me (the one that grabs a coaster and slides it under everyone's drink in order to protect that 20 quid IKEA coffee table) wants to put his hand through the screen and at least turn the thing the right way up!!!!!
